Does anyone know if Moiraine's own thoughts are contraction free too? They would have to be, I imagine, but I'm too lazy to check.
So about contractions and Damodreds

I was bored and tried to find all of Caraline Damodred's speaking parts and noticed she too speaks like an essay.

Maybe she saves all her contractions for use elsewhere...

This has got me wondering whether all Cairhienin nobles do this or if the Damodreds are the weird ones at the party.

I just checked TGH and CoS, but not thoroughly.
Neither Barthanes or Colavaere use contractions. RJ-Talmanes uses them, but Selande doesn't use them. Maybe Selande doesn't use them because she wants to act more important than she is so she emulates the higher Cairhienin nobles.
The Tairen lords use them.

this is completely unrelated but I was looking up Daigian's speech and I had a huge "awwwwww poor Moiraine" because she's even weaker and I hope to God SOMEONE/ANYONE tries to make her pour tea.
Quote
Most sisters considered Daigian little better than a wilder and treated her little better than a servant. In that company, Kumira hardly stood much higher. The most suspicious could not think they were there to try to convince anyone of anything. So Daigian would pour the tea and sit quietly except when addressed.

Moiraine might sit and pour tea quietly, but she uses *everything* to her advantage. Her power is her incredible resourcefulness and her own sense of empowerment about it. And she will bring the badass when they least expect. She would never think of herself as being incapable. She just is. *fangirls hard*
It is this about Mo that has made me fangirl over Prez from bsg, and why I mix icons from both fandoms. It's also what makes me love Payal's Maya so much, and Chiyo. (I would like to thank Momo for my many fandoms...) Now I want a crossover where all of them and a certain someone from Rome take over all the worlds and get all the stuff. But they'd be doing it for the good, natch, so no worries.
