I want to be a BSG fan but I can't get past the preview miniseries. Not because they're boring, but I never seem to have both eppies together! :-/ Should I just start season 1?

Yeah, just start 1. As long as you know that the cylons nuked all the humans except their group and they're running away to save what's left of themselves you should be good to go. And it's all Baltar's fault. It's not "omg the best show ever" but there's fun parts. :P

Who's running away? Humans or cyclons?

The humans are running away from the cylons, of they are trying to anyway.

Posted Image Awwe, this is on dev art.

Yep, and the first ep starts with humans jumping to a new section in space in all their ships and Cylons tracking them down every time, every 33 minutes exactly. Humans are all "wtf need sleep and we're gonna die" and Cylons are all, "haha, found you again, time to finish this genocide"

Because of Jan we now have this thread. :o

Mwahaha... I love the new BSG thread we have because of me! I started watching BSG again, yay, and making my girlfriend watch with me. *evil giggle*

I agree! She's my fav right now during the rewatch. I avoided her because of Baltar hate for a while~

I never understood Balter hate, he may have been a wretched human being but he was the funniest character on BSG.

It's a love/hate/love to hate thing. He's funny, but he's the most wretched person. It's not so much that he gave the codes away. Nobody's perfect. Er, even though that's a really big stupid thing to do. It's that he makes himself out to be an amazing hero precisely because of it. Something he said about feeling like nobody should blame the flood and being rewarded by god for what he did.

It shows a fundamental narcissism so extreme that he can't even imagine what he's done in practical terms. That would involve understanding that others are worthwhile. He has no connection and he's not concerned about getting one. I love that they made a typical bad guy so realistic and human, but I can only tolerate so much of him and then need a break for a while.

I'm finding it difficult to think of him as a bad bad guy. Yeah, he did something really bad and even more stupid, but it's interesting how he's tormented by it in the sense that he doesn't really know how to wrap his head around what he's done! I guess I'm talking about the same thing Katie just mentioned. I sometimes want to slap him and send him to the corner and sometimes I'm all, "ha, he's being punished by just hanging around!".

All that said, I've only watched the first few episodes!

Can't really argue with any of that ^_^. I guess I never really hated him because watching him struggle to survive was always so amusing.
