I don't hate Thom. I don't like him, but I don't hate him. They could easily be Aes Sedai/Warder and lovers, why the need to get hitched? It just seems so archaic with no real benefit for them.

It seems very beneficial financially for Thom...and she probably hopes it'll keep him from seducing the younger ladies.

It is a windfall for Thom, not so much for Moiraine. She could enjoy his company without marriage it is true.

Marriage pleases Moiraine's romantic side.

Her heart is encased in steel, but inside there is just enough room for some rainbows and unicorns.
Ok, maybe not, but she's always been a little sentimental.
Thom has got maybe ten, fifteen years left. Moiraine's gonna live a lot longer than that. If they want to get married fast at least it kinda makes more sense for them than for maybe some other quick hitchings. I'm looking at you, Perrin!

Maybe Moiraine figures its the end of the world, theres a good chance no one will survive it anyway so why not?

I see it as symbolic for the both of them.
It's philandering Thom's way of saying: you are above all the other loves.
It's workaholic Moiraine's way of saying: I love you more than Blue Ajah.

Maybe it's 'cause of legal issues. I mean, she was declared dead, wasn't she? Might be easier on the paperwork to just marry back rather than having courts and whatnot appoint her not dead. Especially if people already inherited her stuff and use fortunes to stall her legally. And Thom's the kind of goof who thinks it's love.

Although do we know Thom's nationality? She might be marrying back into being an andoran rather than a carhienin

Ohmy, yes, that could be devastating. She'd be like an alcoholic during prohibition.

I do believe Thom hails from Andor, yes.

I like it. It's against the Blue Ajah's rules. She can't get married. It's basically a big middle finger to the system.

Yea, I forgot about that. Oh, Momo, you fabulous rebel.
