Moiraine was my favorite character right from the start. I loved that little Blue going on about vile birds. Then she just got more kickass for me.
Was it during a reread that Mo became one of your favs or was it right away? Was it after her vacation? It was only a long vacation!

Like you, I fell for her from the start. The intro describing her appearance - blue silk, blue stone on gold chain on her forehead, soft dark hair in ringlets, stunningly beautiful in a mature way - made me sigh dreamily. Her coolness only increased as the series went on and we got to see her more of her personality, and after NS I knew there was no going back from Moiraine-love.

*Moiraine love fest*
Yes, all through EotW she just got better, but I especially loved her in Baerlon. After sinking that ferry, bragging about the fog, and the little moment where Lan is about to kill those ferry people they go on to flirty dance time with Rand and the other boys. Well, Lan didn't flirt. He stood and glowered. But still.
I liked that she could be a bunch of things.

I liked her from the start because Rand found her hot and I thought there was going to be village drama. I am still disappointed.
At the end of book two I decided she was my fave since I hated everyone else. And then I thought "watch, now she'll die".

When she did that totally awesome speech to the people of Emond's Field - "Is this what the people of Manetherin have come to, etc?"

Somewhere in the middle/end of EoTW. By FoH, she was my runaway favourite, and I was one of those idiots who had no idea she was going to "die" at the end of that book. That was a shock!

I liked Moiraine from the beginning. I think it was the fact that she was obviously so much cooler than Rand and co, who had a tendency to act like village idiots

When I realized she was intelligent, which was pretty much when she first graced the page. Thom was up there too. Lan lost my love when he fell for someone half his age with inadequate reason. For this same reason, Rand has always lagged.

Seems so far the concesus is from the begging, lol.
As for me, I do not honestly remember. I would say somewhere between book 3-5. I know for sure though by the end of book 5 she was one of my favorites. Because I greatly enjoyed New Spring.

He's twice her age now? Why does Thom's age change every time I turn around!?
Well, it's a good thing I never read WoT for the romance. Actually, what is the general consensus on Thom's age in years? Mo is in her 40s, right? Lan is about the same, and Nyn is in her twenties. I hate WoT relationships...

Thom is probably in his 70s. Moiraine/Morgase were born in the same year and he was twice Morgase's age twenty years ago. So he is not twice her age now, but the age difference is actually more than Lan/Nynaeve by a few years.

Perhaps I shall find Lan love yet again, in lieu of this.
Or I'll just not like Mo/Thom.
This is a toughie. Well, I'll still love Mo, unless she comes back like current Siuan, at which point I will crawl into a corner, assume the fetal position, and cry.
