I don't believe in extra non-physical properties of the mind, such as a soul. I think everyone would do the same things given identical circumstances, and so, I don't really believe in beings being inherently good and bad either. Sweets can be all kinds of good though, but that's different.

I'm rather fond of the opposite ideology, myself.

Now, to the task at hand, I'm also of the belief nobody is truly aware of who they are. In the end, we align a numerous set of biases, either boasts, humility, or any combination of the two. Therefore, in the context of this topic, I'd say no, Moiraine is not aware she is Queen Bitch of BAMF Mountain.

*comforts* There there, Moiraine can't fulfill everyone's personal fantasy. I think she can be totally into flattery and really easy after a few gallant remarks, should the situation warrant that kind of Moiraine.

Then what's the point of self awareness? I guess that kinda ties in with the whole mysterious soul concept but matter and energy in itself is all mysterious deep down. How it came to be and all such. So, maybe the mystery of matter and self awareness is the same? And then anyone made of matter could be Moiraine, if they had her genes and upbringing.

If there isn't a soul or a spirit then I agree with you, Vertex. If someone was born with Moiraine's genes and had her upbringing they would be Moiraine, but they wouldn't be "someone" then, they'd just have always been her. It'd be the same with anyone. We are just ourselves.

Except for Superman who's also Clark Kent. And other super heroes, I guess. Maybe Moiraine could become a superheroine by showing way too much skin and wearing a mask, and then her secret identity could realize her Moiraineness.
