DABEL BROTHERS NOW TAKING PRE-ORDERS ON WHEEL OF TIME LIMITED EDITION ART PRINT

Studio behind comic book adaptation of Robert Jordan’s NEW SPRING offers high quality print of artwork based upon the epic universe of bestselling Wheel of Time saga.
Dabel Brothers Production (“DB Pro”) announced today that it will begin taking pre-orders on its newest product from Robert Jordan’s popular Wheel of Time series: an exclusive limited edition literary art print that will be hand-signed by the author himself.
“We’ve enjoyed the success we’ve already seen with our comic book adaptation of Wheel of Time: New Spring, but we want to expand our horizons as a studio and give fans something they’d be proud to display in their homes or offices to show their love for the series,” said Les Dabel, Vice President and New Business Director of DB Pro. “These prints contain text written by Robert Jordan and amazing imagery from the series from illustrator Harvey Tolibao. Anyone who’s a fan of Mr. Jordan’s books will want one.”
This limited edition has been designed and printed by The Tamarack Press who are the acknowledged leaders when it comes to high-end collectible prints. The print is titled “Mat Cauthon vs. Couladin” and depicts an epic battle scene along with an excerpt about the conflict from the novels. It will measure 13x19 and will feature hand-pulled letterpress print on top of the artwork. 750 prints will be produced, numbered, and signed by Jordan; once the run is finished, the plates will be destroyed and the image will not be reproduced or reprinted. To ensure that each print will be made to last, the printer will use high quality vellum and inks, and each print will be shipped via Federal Express in unrolled fashion, wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and placed between binders boards.
Because of the high demand for these prints, the Dabel Brothers have begun taking pre-orders on the print’s official website at here. Because supplies are limited, customers are encouraged to order immediately; pre-ordered prints should arrive by the beginning of September.
“Fans have been begging Mr. Jordan for art like this for years,” said Les Dabel with a smile. “Now that the art’s arrived, we’re confident that they’ll support this and future prints with appreciative enthusiasm.”

DABEL BROS' HEDGE KNIGHT RIDES AGAIN
Acclaimed graphic novel based on story by George R. R. Martin heads for second printing to meet exceptional demand In the world of comics, even death can rarely hold back a hero.

Such is the case of Dabel Brothers Production's adaptation of The Hedge Knight, which, despite already selling an amazing 20,000 copies in its first edition, will be going into a second printing this spring to meet the amazing demand from readers all over the world.

The Hedge Knight is based upon a short story by New York Times bestselling author George R. R. Martin (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords) that serves as a sort of prequel to his epic series, A Song of Ice and Fire. The story focuses on the adventures of Dunk, a young would-be knight, as he attempts to make a name for himself at a tournament while learning hard lessons about honor and chivalry in the process.

Originally published in 2003 as a six-issue miniseries adapting the short story of the same name, The Hedge Knight endured many problems in its brief run, switching publishers midway through the series and shipping late on more than one occasion. And yet at the same time, it was lauded by critics and fans alike, gaining attention and recognition from sources all over the publishing world and piquing the interest of major booksellers. The book's art, drawn by comic book veteran Mike S. Miller and inked by Mike Crowell, brought the world of Martin's story to life in stunning visual style, and the script adaptation, by Ben Avery, paid close attention to the source material, adding little while emphasizing the story's deep and gripping plot. And, as Martin continued work on A Feast for Crows, the next novel in his series, The Hedge Knight served as a welcome distraction for fans who were eager to see the world of A Song of Ice and Fire brought to life in the visual medium.

That the first graphic novel edition of the series was severely underprinted was a tragedy for fans, many of whom were unable to collect all six issues of the comic due to the book's uneven release schedule. But the situation will be remedied as Dabel Brothers Production and Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc. bring forth a new edition of the graphic novel this spring in a stunning second printing, which features a different cover by legendary painter Boris Vallejo and new artwork from fan-favorite artist Amok, best known for his work on the A Song of Ice and Fire card game.

"We're blown away by the fact that The Hedge Knight has gained such a huge following over the last year," said Les Dabel, Vice President and New Business Director of Dabel Brothers Production (DB Pro). "On Amazon.com, it's been ranked in the top 100 overall recently, in the top 20 for comic books and the top 10 for graphic novels, among books like The Complete Far Side, Sin City and Watchmen, all of which are powerhouses in the world of comic book trade paperbacks."

"The orders are in such high demand that we have to run a second printing just to appease everyone," continued Dabel. "And that's great news. We worked hard to bring The Hedge Knight to the medium, and we've enjoyed the warm response it's received from the industry and from readers over the last year. And while we've definitely hit a few bumps along the way, we've learned a lot from our mistakes, and we're doing our best to ensure that our upcoming adaptations of other major fantasy authors enjoy a smoother release now that The Hedge Knight has paved the way."

In addition to working with Martin, DB Pro has also begun adapting stories from other major fantasy works such as Raymond E. Feist's "Riftwar Saga," Robert Silverberg's "Majipoor Chronicles," Tad Williams's "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn," and Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time," all of which should be available in comic book form throughout 2005. (Graphic novel trade paperback editions are planned to follow soon thereafter.)

"We're very excited to be working with some of the best writers and stories in the realm of fantasy," said Ernst Dabel, President of DB Pro. "We're taking some of the most wonderful and breathtaking worlds ever conceived and bringing them into the visual medium. Quality and authenticity are our top concerns, and we're working hard to ensure that these adaptations are faithful both to the original stories and to fans' ideas of how they should appear."

DABEL BROS TAKE ON THE RIFTWAR SAGA
Studio behind The Hedge Knight returns to bring the universe
of bestselling author Raymond E. Feist to life.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Following up on the success of the critically acclaimed bestselling
adaptation of George R. R. Martin's The Hedge Knight, Dabel Brothers
Production is nearing release on its next wave of comic book adaptations
based on the works of popular fantasy authors.

One of the foremost of these titles is based upon the short story "The Wood
Boy" by Raymond E. Feist, a unique coming of age story that offers a common
boy's perspective of the Riftwar Saga as he finds himself enslaved under a
force of alien invaders as they occupy the manor where he works. Featuring
art by fan-favorite Mat Broome, the comic book adaptation of The Wood Boy is
on track to become another major title for the Dabel Brothers.

"The Wood Boy is a great introduction to the Riftwar because it gives
readers a glimpse of both sides of the conflict," said Sean J. Jordan, who
wrote the adaptation of the story. "On one side, you've got the Midkemians,
who live in a fairly standard medieval world complete with elves, dwarves,
and dragons. On the other side, you have the Tsurani, an invading army
somewhat like a blend between the Mongol Hordes and the Roman Legions that
has come through a rift between the two worlds to conquer the kingdoms and
take their metal."
The Wood Boy follows Dirk, a teenager who has just begun his life as a
servant on a prominent estate as the Riftwar begins. When the Tsurani invade
the estate and turn it into a base of operations, Dirk and his fellow
workers are forced to not only attend to the needs of the estate, but also
those of the army.

"The first half of the story is all about Dirk learning how to live under
the rule of his harsh new masters," said Jordan, "while the second half
takes an unexpected twist and gives Dirk an opportunity to grow from a
simple wood boy into a courageous hero."
One of the most distinctive aspects of The Wood Boy is its artistic style -
illustrator Mat Broome infused the story with a bit of a "Dirk-the-Daring"
look to make the title stand out in the genre. The result is a book that
captures the imagination and fun of the fantasy world.

"Part of the reason I decided to work on this project is because Feist's
writing is really good," said Broome. "This is a really compelling story
about the awkwardness of being a kid, and it's been a blast to work on it."

The Wood Boy #1 will be available in Spring, 2005 through Image Comics at
comic book retailers everywhere. Retailers may order copies through Diamond
Distributors, Order Code JAN051638.
