Well, tanned and olive skinned people are still most frequently caucasian... I think it would have been fun to see a more diverse group of main characters.

But most of the characters (the Emond's Fielders) all come from the same place, so they all have to be the same complexion. Other chars like Rand, Elayne, Aviendha also have the same bloodlines so it makes sense that they have the same skin/hair/eye color. So with so many chars that are related, it's hard to make the group very diverse. :)

Blame RJ for making everyone related. :D

And by the way, Cerendrallion, there WAS a whole race of Green Men but they got wiped out. :D

Aiel are the closest thing to Russian/Slavic. According to RJ' date=' they speak with what we might call a slight Slavic accent.[/quote']

now, where do you know that from. Aiel are mostly red haired and are definetly not pale white. They are tan as they are always exposed to the sun. (I imagine thier skin color as a little bit arabic but not that much)

Now about us, slavics (as I am one), we are mostly black/broun hair with black/broun eyes. There are of course blond and blue eyed but not that much. Now the Bulgarians, as well as mostly all of the slavic group, we are not pale white, but still really white. The Russians are reaaly pale.

And I definetly do not get the one about the accents. Is that how RJ described them in an interview or something like that that I haven't read?

There was?!

As I was saying to Marie yesterday: I really need to go back and re-read' date=' or else I tend to make a fool of myself...alas.[/quote']

Yes. There were lots of them, he is not unique. They were all called 'the treebrothers'.

In the Aiel story, when Rand sees their roots, the Aes Sedai speak to the green man to guard the Horn of Valere and they speak to him as 'one of them'

No. Under their clothes they are as pale as an Irishman. Only the parts that see the sun are dark.

In a letter to a fan he said the Seanchan had a Texas like drawl.

Interesting... I never thought of that. For instance, I have wondered. What's Lan's skin colour? His hair is dark, but I can't imagine him as anything other than fair-skinned! Is it the blue eyes that do it? Any theories anyone?

I'd say that Scandinavia doesn't exist at all in that world. I would know, then. I think that the equivalent countries, if they exist at all, were swallowed by the blight. I thought that the early Tinkers and the Aiel were refugees from those places, but if they're Russians that theory doesn't hold.

Lan could be from Finland, the country of the lakes.
