  1. I wonder what eyeliner Leane uses...
    Maybelline? tongue.gif

You gusy seem to reread WoT a lot. Who's read it the most?
I started reading the series when only the first four books were released. When book 5 was released, I re-read the previous 4. Since then, I've lost count of the times I've re-read them.......
  2. They didn't have Ajahs back in the Age of Legends. The whole Aes Sedai setup was different. Nowadays, being an Aes Sedai is a job, but back then it was more of a guild/club thing: They had actual careers.
Thanks, I didn't know that. I haven't really looked in the WoT encyclopaedia or whatever it is (Worlds of the Wheel of Time).....

  3. Hi folks.

This thread is fairly obvious - dedicated to discussion of possible plot developments in the prequels or in book 12. Feel free to go crazy with whatever conspiracy you think. How will Mat reach Rand with Tuon (if he hasn't already, I'm still 150 pages from finishing KoD). What will happen to the White Tower, the Black Tower, who are Cyndane, Moridin, etc? Whatever you like, really.

I'll start by repeating part of a previous post I made. I don't know if I need to hide it for spoilers, since the thread title obviously says spoilers, but until someone tells me otherwise, I'm not going to anger anyone:

Does anyone think Olver is Gaidal Cain reborn?

It makes sense. I mean -

    Gaidal Cain WAS reborn

Gaidal Cain was butt ugly. Olver's no looker either.

Birgitte loves Gaidal Cain. And adore's Olver to bits.

  4. And also...what the fark happened in that town in TGH' date=' Chapter 10 (The Hunt Begins)? Where Rand walks into that farmhouse and that smiling, bald-headed man is eating meat and turnips with his family, and every time Rand blinks, they freak out, and then the scene repeats, and more and more flies fill the room...

[/quote']I thought it was a trap laid by Lanfear (Selene at the time). Remember she was in the village, looking from a window. A trap of Saidar, I surmised.

Hmm. About the prequel - I have a pre-release chapter of the prequel on my computer - "The Strike at Shayol Ghul", and it documents Lews Therin and the Hundred Companions going against The Dark One, and the lashback that tainted Saidin.

I don't seem to be able to post attachments, but I'm more than happy to put it up if a moderator wants it.

There are supposed to be 3 prequels, so we have New Spring, Strike at Shayol Ghul. I think a book on Tam al'Thor would nicely round out the backstory.

Anyhow, useless observation here, but interesting still. When Morgase was a "guest" in Amador, she was offered help from a young boy named Paitr. Lovely chap. all round good bloke. Too bad the Whitecloaks hanged him for being a Darkfriend.

One would think this a plot against Morgase - kill the escape (though Asunawa had no knowledge of it). Think back to Four Kings (book 1). Rand and Mat are taken to by a young man - a darkfriend named..... Paitr. Whaddaya know - it just goes to show Jordan's depth to the series, a character can pop up for a page or two in book 1, only to reappear in book 7 (was it 7?, can't recall now), and play a pivotal role in the story.

And a possible plot development for book 12. Possibly a spoiler also, so look at your own peril, but....

Who else thinks Olver is Gaidal Cain reborn?

I mean, think about it -

    Gaidal Cain WAS reborn somewhere....

Gaidal Cain is butt ugly. Olver is butt ugly.

Birgitte loves Gaidal Cain. Birgitte adores Olver.

    It makes sense

EDIT:I found a link to the story for you.

    http://www.tor.com/shayol.html

I don't think it's actually going to be a complete book, according to RJ, but it's interesting still. The copy I had previously doesn't have Jordan's preamble. Oh well, have fun guys.

  5. If we're talking straight technical abilities, Lan is the best. Rand was beaten by Toram Riatin (though to be fair, Rand was wearing his coat and gloves to hide the dragon's from him), and Lan killed Riatin. This seems to indicate Lan is better.

Who knows, if Rand had his coat and gloves off, it might have been different. But *KoD spoiler*

losing his hand has put that idea to rest, whatever the case.

However, there's more to being a great warrior. I nominate Mat Cauthon as the greatest. With the memories of countless other general's in his mind, Mat is among the best, if not The best, battle leaders. Add to that his ability with a quarter-staff (he beat Galad, remember - and he was sick), which should be the same with his ashandarei. Come to think of it, I can't recall a time when Mat actually has had to use his ashandarei in combat (could be wrong though, hehehe).

  6. I'm a Min fan, right from the start.

Though why any of them would want Rand is beyond me. I mean, he's handsome enough, and at one stage he was nice enough, but he's too hard now for me to believe any woman would Love him. He gets harder and harder, pushes people away, and they love him all the more.

    Or am I just strange?

  7. ^^Ah, I knew there was a reason I placed her as possibly 16. 16 or 18 - either way, Winona Rider is still way too old, in my opinion. Though that hasn't stopped Hollywood in the past. I mean, look at Buffy hmm.gif

  8. Actually Egwene is only 2 years younger' date=' which makes her 20 (or 21 depending on what year it is now).

I think we changed Brad Pitt from Galad, but it's been so long since I updated...

Oh, and newbies' opinions are welcomed. :([/quote']newbie opinions, yay clap.gif I believe Egwene is 20 now, but it's been a couple of years since they left the 2 Rivers. I don't know the exact time frame, I've lost track over the 11 books, I thought a couple of years, she's still in her teens at least.

I remember writing out a movie cast for WoT when i first read it, that was 10 years or more ago now, so most of the actor's don't fit the role anymore. Only Sean Connery as Thom Merrilin fits, I think he's got the right presence for a gleeman/courtbard/queen's lover/allround good bloke grin2.gif

Sorry, I'm used to my own smilies on another forum - hope you don't mind blush.gif.....

  9. Hi people - I'm new here (be nice :D ). Found your site while googling. Obviously, I'm a wheel of time nut, or I wouldn't be here :o

Just wanted to comment on some of the choices you've made for possible actor's:

    2. Egwene - Winona Rider - too old, I think. Egwene's younger than Rand/Mat/Perrin even, and Winona Rider just won't look right as a.... what, 16-yo? I think a newcomer actress would be good for her part.

    6. Lanfear - Catherine Zeta-Jones - pure personal bias here, but I hate zeta-jones. That's not really a reason to change though. :(

    btw, you've forgotten Min :P

    Males

    1. Galad - Brad Pitt. That's just wrong. On all counts....

    2. Thom - Sam Elliot. May I suggest the ever-brilliant Sean Connery?

    3. Moridin - Guy Pierce. Great choice.

    5. Perrin - Karl Urban. Also a great choice by looks. Unfortunately, about 10-15 years too old :-(

    7. Mat - Orlando Bloom. So cliche. Almost as bad as Leo DiCaprio, I think....

Just my opinion - you probably don't want it from a newbie..... *oh well*

    Regards, PA
