Part 1

Will lazed in his rooms slowly sipping cool juice and staring at the ceiling. The day was too hot for riding or sword practice and he felt as if his brain had melted from the heat. The designs on the roof along occupied him as he lay. Paintings of great detail portrayed images of war and peace divided by cloud of grey. War was displayed as black with great brutality and violence painted onto the background seemingly floating in emptiness. Peace was displayed as white. A motherly looking women sitting by a calm lake with a girl at her feet. The girls soft golden hair lay in her mothers lap and a small naked boy played with a ball in the back ground. War and Peace, good and evil. Divided by the fine grey cloud. Neither good nor bad. Neither right nor wrong. In the years of war when the kingdom fought the Airiek warriors good and evil had melted into one. Survival had become the main occupation for those who marched onto the battle field day after day, the only thing that mattered was the constant battle for life so close to the enemy border. Those waiting in the ruined cities for loved ones and friends had suffered on the brink of starvation and had, had to resort to means that all hoped never to think of again. A knock on the door. Will sat and for a moment stared at the carefully carved mahogany door. Images of a jungle cut into it. The knocking came again more forcefully and he was startled from his day dream.
