Lan could see his breath misting in front of him. He looked up into the stormy sky's, raging far above his head on the mountain peek. Thoughts swirling in his head while he still clung to the dark mountain side with one hand, as if it was nothing, for he, was Lan Mandraogran.

He had left behind everything for this single solitary journey. A vision he saw in his dreams told him he must reach the peek of this mountain, and accomplish what he was destined for! The only one in the whole world who could be worthy of such a feat!

But there were dangers. Oh many dangers. But Lan feared not. He courted death as others may have their morning breakfast. But there weren't just Trollocs and Shadow Spawn here. Nor things only dangerous to jut one's physical form. There many...other types of dangers lurking on this steep, cold mountain.

He threw up his next hand and pulled himself over the cliff back onto a narrow ledge. Nothing except death would stop him from reaching the top, he could feel his destiny pulling him. As if the Wheel had spun him just for this. If he was an Aes Sedai he'd probably have a foretelling right now he thought with a wiry smile. Well, just the slightest curve of the lips which was a smile for Lan Mandragogran.

A gust of chilly wind blew against him as he edged his way across the ledge. The ledge barley a hand and half wide. He could hear something above him, on the next outcrop probably, something scuffling across the dirt like feet. But not...feet. He pushed onward never looking down. Not that he was afraid of heights, it was just wool headed not to be looking in front of you.

The sky a dark purplish gray felt as if it was screaming at him that he would die upon this forsaken mountain. That it would personally see to his death. Just as he was coming around the corner he gripped the hilt of his sword and poked his head around, peering for anything he might see. The wind was in the wrong direction for him to pick up any sounds more than two paces away now.

All he could see was a hazy mist on the outcrop. He lifted his back foot and began pulling it forward when realization struck in his head as the mist started rapidly surged forward at him The mist IS the enemy!. There's no way he could complete the step in time, or draw his sword on the narrow ledge. He could lunge forward but he would lunge into IT. There was only one option. Lan let his left foot that was now in midair fall past the ground as he threw himself forward in a half dive, barley hitting the outcrop with his upper body as he rolled left, off the cliff! At the last second when he thought he covered a few paces, his foot that was under the ledge he used to kick the ground in order to make him stop, reach out with his hands and pull himself back onto the ledge. The mist object had shot past him, though was already readying itself for another surge. Lan was on his belly, still not in position to draw his sword. The mist began it's advance once more, Lan's mind raced, but instinct and training kicked in.

His hands pushed him up, from his elbows and knees he threw himself backwards into a squat from there he drew his sword as he threw himself left away from the edge of the outcrop, he made a small slash at the side of the mist and rolled as he hit the ground coming up to his feet. The mist barley parted from the force of the attack but was already reforming. He already did not believe sword attacks would work. At least not direct hits. The mist was already once again rushing towards him and half way there, Lan's back was only a pace away from the side of the mountain. The landscape already painted in his mind, even though he held himself in the void. six to eight paces left or right for movement, and only four to maybe five in front of him.

He wanted to avoid it as much as possible until he could reach a strategy that might work. No telling what will happen if I touch it. Or worse end up inside of it.

I'll finish the next part of this sometime by the end of the weekend.
