A sampling of my writting

Recommended Posts

It's a fanfic. I didn't post the whole thing for 1) I'm not fully done and 2) It's getting long.

Edit: I promise I'll get the more interesting parts up when I get to them. I just can't spare worthless detail! I love writting emotion!

Who Would Have Guessed?

Shigure Sohma absently tapped at his keyboard, silently praising the fact the kids were at school. Their senior year now, was it? Well, he'd be alone all the time then soon enough. The family curse lifted, Akito suddenly went to dorment for God knows how long. She was interested in everything but the familiar trappings of her life. Not that he could blame her, but he felt extremly hurt at the fact she didn't return his affections. After all, he'd done all he could for her, and even succeeded in some ways. Ah well, it was just as well. She could use the experiance, as could he.

Unfortunatly, Miichan wanted the novel he'd been promising. And he was't feeling particularlly inspired.

That was when she showed up.

Saki Hanajima, a friend of Torhu-kun's. She was supposed to be at school, but instead, she was at his house, which was admittedly, out of the way. He liked Saki enough, for a girl that gave most people the creeps. A psychic who was goth intentionally to keep people away. The whole thing about her seeing "electromagnetic waves" come off of people telling her their feelings, intentions, emotions, and their mood. It bugged him, and she knew it, as he always hid his true thoughts. What bugged most people was that she could use those "waves" to hurt or even potentially kill people, Shigure, on the other hand, didn't worry too much about being killed. He'd expected another dark woman in his life to have done that more times than he could count.

Although, nothing explained why Hana-chan decided to show up at his house on a school day during the day, especially if Torhu wasn't home. He scuttled down when he saw her coming to open the door for her, but found her comfortable already on his couch.

"Hello," she said in her cool, dark, monotone voice that sent shivers up everyone's back. There was something deadly in her voice, something that Shigure admired.

"Why, hi there Hana-chan!" he piped happily, he was actually glad someone had come to see him, albeit he was confused on his savior's motives.

"Sit down." It was an order. At the moment, however, he was too surprised and too happy to be bothered by it. She was eleven years younger than him, skipping school, a goth/psychic, and visiting him alone, what was regular about her anyway.

"So Hana-chan, why are you here?" the words sort of fell out, unrefined, much unlike himself. Ayame was right when he'd said he'd been losing his touch. But then Hatori said everything about him checked out normally. Best friends tell each other painful truths, and they were right. He was out of it.

She just looked at him, those dark, almost black eyes, piercing and tinged with violet, looked at him almost quizzically, and he could have sworn she'd just smiled at him for a half-a-moment. "I felt distress."

He laughed a little, "Oh my, are my waves that bad? I knew I was a little depressed, but distress!" he threw up his hands in mock worry. She didn't smile at his dumb antics. She never did. In fact she looked a little regretful. But she looked more than that.

It was late summer, school had started a week ago. She was wearing her hair down, something she did rarely. In addition to that, her dark clothes were in a considerable less amount, probably due to the heat. He never had a chance to asses her figure as he was doing now. She was beautiful. In a forbidding sort of way, and that made her almost irresistablly sexy. The way her wavy, black, long hair contrasting the violets and the whites of her skin and clothes, the flat, expressionless look on her face and that secretive look in her eyes, added to her almost-to-good-to-be-true figure, all the way from her thin waist and slender legs, to her flawless neck and her darkly lovely face, he didn't hazard to look below them long enough to get a fair idea of them, but he knew, all this made her look, oddly as it occured to him, like she was trying to seduce him. That single thought opened a whole can of worms for him.

"I didn't mean your distress," she interrupted his chain of less-than-honorable thought.

He masked his face, although it was pointless to do so with her, by begining to balance his pen on his upper lip. "Really?" he asked in genuine interest, "I'm the only one home though, so who's distress are we here to discuss?"

"Mine," she still kept the monotone in her voice, as if it made no difference. She didn't even look when the pen fell off his lip.

This is going to be the least of his surprises, she thought glumly. How out of character this all felt. She knew what he was doing when he was looking over her, she'd planned on him to do it. Everyone knew he was a bit of a pervert. She didn't know how she managed to tell her brother, let alone her parents, that she had developed a crush on this man. He would be thrity before she was twenty! Not that he'd ever look his age.

He wore that childlike expression everywhere. He was thin, but not painfully so. Thin and muscular. She could tell even past his kimono. His hair and eyes on anyone else would have been unexciting, but on him they were to die for. There was a painful simplicity in his looks, but it was a perfect simplicity. His skin was unblemished, his eyes perfectly positioned in accordance to his nose and mouth, and his ears fit his hair no matter how he had it. He usually just let it have its way too, and that worked for her. He looked closer to twenty-two then twenty-eight. Closer to twenty then thirty. But that wasn't why she fell for him.

She fell for him because she loved how he kept everyone dancing to his tune. Even she found herself going where he needed her to go when they were all over. Once she'd seen him throw his editor through enough fits to drive anyone mad, and he did it all off whim. No planning. No driving. It was natural to him. And he kept his secrets in a nearly flawless act. His waves are what let her see through it. Waves and a sense of empathy. All the Sohmas she'd met hid something dark, and Shigure hide more than most. And he did so by implying he had nothing to hide. He still backed away from society like she did, but he didn't make it obvious he was doing so. She loved how dark and cunning his mind really was. Not that simple happy-go-lucky perverted man he showed off. She knew hardly anything about his history, but just by watching a little every time she was here before, he'd composed a lot of who he was now. Besides, she liked his work. His novels touched her. That was probably the only thing that made her parents not kill her after her confession. He got through to her, but he didn't know it.

Still, none of that made it easier telling him she had feelings for him. He was attracted to her, but she'd worn next to nothing to get him to notice that. Besides, she wasn't after sex. Although the teenage curiousity bugged her more and more, after reviewing herself in all possibly areas, she might scare Shigure off if she came on to him like that. She probably already was.

"Yours?" he looked shocked, she'd never seen that before. She liked that she'd done that to him.

"Yes. I was hoping you'd be able to help me."

"Oh! How could a humble man like me ever help you?"

She fought the urge to laugh at the word 'humble.' He was everything but. Her composure remained calm, she thought so at least, but glint in his eye said he'd spied amusement. "Because you can associate with me."

"What?" he no longer was surprised, he only kept the act up. He was a bright man, and he was figuring the general idea of what she was doing. Of course, there was something he'd never see coming.

"I feel repressed."

He only nodded. Steady and silent. And sexy while he was at it. Goddamn her urges.

"Like I'm hiding from the rest of the world," she hoped her voice was steady.

"Isn't that the whole point of the goth look?"

He was right, it was an easy statement to break.

"Yes, but Shigure-san-"

"Just Shigure."

"Shigure, it's like I'm not human."

"You have no idea what it means to be not human," he was now completely absorbed in listening and thinking. There would be no more nonsense from him as long as he was like this.

"I am neglecting me."

***

Shigure was more than confused and taken-back by the fact she'd come to him for counsel. And he had no clue as to what she was getting at. Furthermore, it was getting hot in his living room and he was sweating.

"Hana-chan?"

"Please call me Saki," she continued. She never lost that monotone, even through this. Impressive.

"A first name basis now," his eyes just stared off, lost in thought, "Let's go into the kitchen. I'm sure Torhu-kun left something for me to eat."

There wasn't anything there. "I'll make tea," she stated. It was not an offer. Shigure could only watch as she went about his kitchen that he didn't even know as if she'd organized it herself. Something about her manner unsettled him right now. She was deliberate, she always was, but there was a hint of anxiety, something that wasn't her. He snapped back to their conversation.

"You said you were neglecting yourself?"

She didn't look up at him, "I am."

"How so?"

She did not reply, and he would not press her.

God, he did have to be so sympathic? He was staring at her. Into her is more what it felt like. A perfectly flat, experssionless face. She couldn't have done better. Except his eyes gleamed coldly and warmly at the same time. It made her think less than ladylike thoughts, that caring yet predatory gaze. She wanted to be touched. In a nice, or at least pleasurable way. No boy had ever done that for her. Or better yet, she wanted to touch him. To make him beg for her. Even to have her beg for him. She felt the blood rush to unwelcome places, and hoped she did flush as much as she felt she was. She pressed her legs together and focused on keeping her breathing even.

Shigure just tilted his head over to one side and asked, "Are you alright Saki?"

"Yes."

"Are you sure? Maybe you should lay down."

"I am fine."

"Something's bugging you. Is it too hot in here?" He had no idea what that made her think.

"Shigure, I... I... I 'like' you."

***

"I would hope you like me," Shigure replied teasingly, "You did after all visit me. You even invited yourself in."

"That isn't what I meant!" she raised her voice. She looked at him almost pleadingly. Shigure could only return a concerned look. He wasn't sure he liked where this was going. It wasn't her age or looks that stopped him, but it was the fact he saw a younger him in her now. One that hadn't found that one thing to cling to through it all. He didn't think it'd be good if she clung to him.

"Saki, I think you should-"

"Don't say it!"

"But-"

"Shigure!"

"It's like you're a younger sister to me Saki, it'd be too-" She never let him finish. She was kissing him. KISSING HIM!

Shigure was at a total loss. She tasted odd, different, almost unpleasant, and it was obvious she'd never done it before. She was breathing frantically through her nose and shoving as much of her tongue as she could down his throat. That bitter taste she left in his mouth when she broke off left a mixed sensation running through him. He'd never turned down a girl before, but then again he wasn't the same man then either. He was freed now, he was, well, innocently broken hearted this time.

"Would a younger sister do that?" she sobbed. Sobbed. Saki Hanajima just sobbed. And kissed him. He didn't know which was weirder. He just blinked at her for a bit. She bit her lip, fear and impatience, what was wrong with her? "Shigure! Please!"

"No." Now he was using a flat voice. He didn't know what to do. He was afraid of her ending up like him. But there were other feelings too.

"You want me!" she almost screamed in his ear. The accusation was true enough, she'd probably seen it in those damn waves. He brushed her hair out of her face.

"Don't cry, please. It doesn't become you," then he leaned in and kissed her lips gently. Just a soft brush, but her tongue darted out again, wanting more. She pulled him down towards her, into another rough kiss. When they broke he half smiled and looked at her eyes, "You never kissed anyone before." It was a simple statement of fact. Not a question.

***

She'd lost it. She wanted three words from him now, that and a way to satisfy the burning between her legs. She could threaten it out of him, yes, but she wanted him to want to do her. She wanted Shigure Sohma. Not just a few sweet nothings, not a day of sex on the kitchen table, she wanted the man. The rest of these things didn't matter in her heart. She just wanted the man. And she would get him. He was confused, worried about her well being in the long run. Worried she'd get hurt and hurt him back, or maybe he just was startled by getting a chance to live the sexual fantasy he claimed to adore. Sex with a high-school girl. Anyone would have thought he'd jump for that.

Or maybe he was worried soley about her. Just about her. Not what she would do to him if he hurt her, or what anyone else would do, but what would happen to her.

Then he kissed her, not with passion and desire, but apologetically, then told her she didn't kiss well and mocked her with a grin. Good God, this man was cruel. He knew she knew too, and that was all he could show for it! She wanted to scream. But she wouldn't let him play her over to his whims, today he was hers.

"No, I haven't. I'd like too again though. Soon," silently she damned herself. It sounded like a plea.

"Saki, I don't think we should do this," caution in his voice, but a bit of regret at them. That was something.

"You want to, Shigure." That was better. More control over her words.

"Still," he trailed for a bit, "What would your friends think?"

"You don't give a damn what they think."

"Yuki and Kyo are my younger cousins, they live with me, I'm their guardian by some order in the upper family. Torhu is your best friend. She lives here because she likes Kyo and Yuki and me. These are friends of yours and family of mine. Their opinions will make an affect whether," he paused for a moment, "we want this or not."

She decided it was time to remove any and all doubt he had about her intentions, "I love you, Shigure Sohma."

He gaped at that. She wished she could read his mind, his waves were a true mess. "I... I don't know what to say."

"Say you love me," she commanded it. But then of course she knew she couldn't command love. She regretted saying that the moment she saw his face.

***

A command to love. So much like Akito did when they were younger. He wouldn't be made to love, not even Akito made him love her. He'd chose to love as it came.

"If that's your game, Saki, no. I don't love you. I can't love you. And I will never love you. NEVER!" he almost choked when he saw her face. It was scary when it was blank, but now it wasn't blank. She was devastated. She abruptly began to cry. To really cry. Not to sob a little and shed a few tears, but she began to bawl. He didn't know what to do at first. When Akito cried he'd wanted her too. She was cold and need to feel. Saki had just poured her young heart out to him and now he'd rejected her harshly.

Without thinking he held her to him. She smelled tart. Almost like old perfumes used in burying rituals. She didn't pull away. She just clung to him, tight. Clung to him and cried on his shoulder. Suddenly he felt something in his kimono. She had stuck her hand in it! He gently guided her out but not before she'd touched something he wished she hadn't. Him pulling her out made her fingertips trail on it. Before too long he was too aroused to hide it even in his loose clothes. Especially with her this close. Damn it! She'd done that on purpose!

She stopped crying long enough to say this, "I told you, you wanted me."

***

"Saki, please stop this," he was begging now. It was his plea. But if he still didn't love her, it wasn't worth it. She didn't want that stick coming out between his legs, she wanted his goddamn heart!

"I'm sorry," she couldn't help but say that. "If you really don't love me, I'll go. What can a stupid teenager do anyway? I'm a failure socially, I have a handful of friends and my family. I suck at school... I should just die."

His eyes widened at that, maybe he did really care for her, "No, please don't die."

She pulled away from him, "Goodbye, Shigure-" then he pulled her back into a kiss from him. A deep, sweet-feeling kiss that made her loose her head all at once. Almost immediatly she began grinding her hip against that spot between his legs, taunting him with the friction. She said she wasn't after sex, and she wasn't, but she was still human.

They broke the kiss but she continued to move against him, closer to him, she was almost raping him. She liked the sensation. Then abruptly, she stopped. A grunt of surprise left him, looking almost perplexed. She looked back at him, unsure whether her eyes were swollen and red from crying (she hated that she'd broken down, although it had given her that chance), shining with hope, or back to the emotionless state she was used to.

Then she shook her head, "I won't with a man who doesn't love me."

He released her and stared. Those eyes again, right into her heart, into her soul. She stared back, hoping he'd understand her like she'd thought he would. Like she hoped he would.

***

Those eyes were captivating. He was thinking now. Searching for what he felt. Past fear. Past memories. Past regret. He was just looking to see if twenty-eight year old Shigure Sohma was in love with seventeen year old Saki Hanajiima. Akito would approve, she would want him happy. Saki's parents, if they saw he was a successful author, wouldn't be too hard, not for him anyway. It wasn't that, or even his younger cousins and her friend that worried him.

He didn't want her to be hurt.

By what?, some voice in his head asked.

Me, he answered it. That was what he was afraid of. Dragging someone down with him.

You're hurting her now.

How?

She loves you, you dog.

Ironic, he hadn't thought of the zodiac animal that he'd been cursed by in a long time now. It was right though, just as another ex-girlfriend of his put it. "You're like a ripple on water, every time I try to get close you break off and move away. You tease at it, but I can't get anything from you."

Mayu was now happily dating Hatori. Lucky man. And woman. Hatori was one of the best guys he'd ever met.

But back to the situation at hand, he looked again at Saki. She stared, her face blank, her eyes flickering on and off between hope and fear. And love. She did deeply admire something about him. It would be easy to get along with her too. Why not? Why shouldn't he make her happy? She wanted his love. Why not give it?

"I love you."

Her heart stopped for a moment. Everything dulled. Even the ache between her legs. Everything but that fire in her chest. It felt as if it were about to burst. He loves me! she cried out to herself. Then it all came back. Her face showed none of the emotion that welled up inside of her. None of it. But she felt it. Good lord did she feel it. She stepped toward him back into his embrace. They kissed again, a mutual effort, their tongues darting around the other's. Her hands came to his head, then down his neck, then to his shoulders. She began to slip the kimono off him.

At the same time she felt his hands undo the straps on her top, gently, almost teasingly. Then they broke and he slipped it over her head. She wasn't wearing a bra, but he'd known that all along. He eased her down onto the table as one hand toyed with one of her nipples. She liked how it felt, the slight pain when he'd squeeze, then just nip on her ear, his tongue playing down her neck. He shrugged his kimono off completely and to her dissapointment, wasn't as excited as she was.

A cruel man, she though. God I love him.

His other hand worked the only pair of jeans she owned. He applied pressure as he went, making her moan every now and again. Finally he began to pull them down. Slowly, letting his finger trance the line her zipper concealed. No panties either, she wondered if he'd guessed that.

She then decided not to let him have control, she thrust forward a bit, touching him to her, then pulling back and sitting up. For the first time she let herself smile. She watched Shigure's face soften, ever so slightly, at her face. Then she pulled him into a kiss. Another rough one, but she liked the feeling of it. Then she let one hand trail down to his great tease, and squeezed it. Gently at first, then firmer, and firmer then slid her hand up and down him. She would recreate that lust he felt so painfully.

He amazed her, even with her presented naked before him, he did not come right out. She had to persuade him. A cunning, cruel man. One much colder than he appeared, but still warm enough to accept her. She admitted she wasn't having him dancing to her song, but she wasn't letting him have quite his way either.

Without warning he suddenly thrust into her, ending her virginity. Oh how she loved him.

***

Shigure had waited until she lost herself in thoughts, intentionally letting her get bored enough. Still a girl, he mused. Nor did he feel ashamed. He wasn't slow, and he wasn't gentle, he was pushing in and out, letting her yelp out in a mixture of sudden pain and pleasure. So much like he was. Cold, calculated, thoughtful. He loved how she attempted to wrest control from him. He loved how she surprised him. Yes, loved. He did love her. He had fallen in love again. Admittedly, she was just as dark and forbidding as Akito, but then, that just was his type. And yes, she was a virgin, not that that surprised him. She wasn't being shy though. She suddenly nipped at his neck. He let out a small cry and she grinned. Cruel too. This might just work out.

As soon as they were done with that round he looked up, "You never had sex before." It was another simple statement of fact.

She looked back at him, getting his hint, "No, I haven't. But I'd like too again. Now."

Only a few minutes later Kyo, Yuki, and Torhu came home, to find Shii-san naked with Hana-chan, on the table.

"WE EAT ON THAT!" Kyo screamed. Yuki only adverted his eyes in disgust.

Torhu turned away too, but beamed happily and loudly, "Saki-chan finally found her love!"

For Laura, who inspired me to write this, and write it like I did.

After looking it over I realized that I'm a romantic, this wasn't about the sex, it was about her wanting his love. Wow, that's weird.

P.S. It was too long to fit in one post.

P.P.S. It's a Fruits Basket fic. That's a manga my sister loved and introduced me too. I kinda fell in for it because Shigure reminded me of me in a lot of ways.

P.P.P.S. I wrote the whole Saki/Shigure thing because it's a very rare fan coulpling, but I find it very amusing. And by amusing I mean funny. (you know who that was for)

P.P.P.P.S. And no, most everything I write is PG-13 at most. Laura just inspired this scene with her "Blood Ties" fics. Not too bad for a 15 year old boy I hope.

Thanks so much for dedicating this to me. It means a lot, thanks so much. :P

Thank God for romantics methinks.

I'm blushing :D

And your writing was excellent. It flowed very well, like Kaitlin said. I'm not into anime - blame it on the country, Ireland doesn't really do anime. :P But I enjoyed it - the characterisation was excellent. I particularly like Saki.

So...all in all...very good :P This is your first fic?

First fanfic? No, it's actually the second. But I lost the first one. It was also much shorter than this one.

Character-wise Saki is usually emotionless unless she's threatening someone, but this was a pairing, so I had to give some emotion. hehehe....
