  1. I was santa yesterday! Oh glorious day!

    I have shaped young minds.

Of course, my godson was terrified of Santa, but when I was leaving one of the slightly older children jumped up and hugged my legs. I swear to god I almost ran out to buy him more gifts. If he was a tiny mugger I would have been toast.

Lol. That is awesome Tosh! :siuandance:

  2. HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE! Hope you all have a ROCKING New Year of the New Decade!

It has been fun & was awesome to have met you all in the first decade of 2000!

I look forward to many more great time's here with you all! :D

To start of the New Year I did some fire crackers with the family. Well I lite and threw a mini cherry bomb...a little too far. It went over the wall into the neighbor's back yard and blew up :glomp:

Luckily they were not home :).

Besides that I'm drinking Apple Cider! :siuandance:

How about the rest of you!? How'd you start off your New Year?

Oh! Post all of your New Year's resolutions too! I'll have mine up soon.

  3. Changing the front page of the site would be kool. Since your right..it hasn't changed much. And every day seems pretty...static.

Maybe on the front center piece, or have another column on the right hand side, show the most recent forum post/most active one's?

    Something like this: http://www.animetake.com/

As you can see in the center middle there are constant new post. But if that is too much just do what they do for their forum, on the right hand side where it says: "Latest Discussion Forum Topics", something like that may be a nice touch?

I have no idea how much work that would be though.

  4. OK see, I think we are reading that quote completely differently. That was my point. I do not read any male loving. I read Rodel Ituralde loved a woman who left him for another man with soft hands. I even looked up the page directly and still feel that way.

That's how I remember reading it when I first read it too.

Though I do see Olivia how you could have read it that way.

Plus I doubt there is any chance of getting a gay male character in the story unless RJ finally decided to write one in there. Because I highly doubt Sanderson will write one himself. After reading that he lives in Utah, graduated from & teaches at Brigham University, I had a suspicion there was a good chance he was Mormon (LDS) and decided to look it up, it seems he is Mormon. =]

(Which was a happy surprise to me considering I'm Mormon (LDS) ).

I'm almost did think the Bartender was gay though when they first introduced him, from the way he acted, and how he attended his bar and kept the floor clean, etc. But then it said he was Married though, so...I would've actually laughed if he was.

For some reason in a lot of anime's it's common to have the Bar/Cafe Manager as a gay male cross dresser, lol. Just thought it would've been a funny coincidence.

(I think they do that so interactions with Female characters, especially when they are the main lead, go more smooth or don't seem awkward in certain comical parts.)

  5. I have finished the book. GOOD ENDING. Good to finally see Rand coming around. When Tam was talking to him, somehow the chapter felt awkward, or the conversation did, and I see why now, because it was a prepared script. It just didn't have that father-to-son feeling, but after he came storming in on Cadsuane all felt right =].

One question I had is, when Egwene was capture in the White Tower, during her stay she talked to some King I believe? (That the White Tower was "holding", King of Illian?) I wonder what happened to him?

The book overall was good, all considering it's RJ's book finished up by someone else. One thing that did bother me though , was there we're practically NO BATTLES, No fights, No Duels, no nothing. Almost no one died I think. (Except for the two forsaken, one of which was the only person I think we got to see be killed, and some Black Ajah). There were no sword fights :sugar:.

And I missed the whole "Steel rang on steel". We just got a lot of "Steal rasping on leather". Even when Rodel Ituralde fought the Seanchan, we never got to see it. We just heard the battle statistic results. The only REAL fight was at the White Tower, and all that was, was Egwene roasting a few To'Raken, some Seanchan soldiers, and a hand full of Damane, and there wasn't much detail to that either, besides them being BBQ. We didn't even really go into Bryne's men's fight except for the fact that they won and routed the SeanChan. But that was also a disappointment in not having more of the fight "written" after Tuon sent all those Damane and Bloodknives into battle. I was hoping for something quite spectacular. I guess there was Mat's fight, but no one died there either.

I just really like the battles I suppose in WoT, so it was a disappointment to have no fights whatsoever. I miss sword fight's such as when Galad killed the Captain...General (?) of the White Cloaks.

    That aside, it was good.

Chapter 22 was intense! Especially at seeing Cadsuane dazed like that from disbelief. I also was not expecting that from Verin. Though I never knew what her angle was till she revealed it. She's earned a special spot in some characters I admire.

It was great to see Siuan/Bryne thing finally done =]! Finally admitting it to each other more or less.

As Olivia pointed out, there was a lot of Father/Son theme in this book, I'm curious as well Olivia if that was RJ or Sanderson. A boy just sometimes need's a reminder from his father I suppose. I wonder if anything also will become of Rand using the TP as you pointed out. I really wish Rand would ask someone to see why he keeps getting sick when he try's to grab hold of the One Power.

Where was the Gay man though? I thought I might have seen it but I've forgotten =\.

Loved the ending. I'm happy enough =).

  6. I think they can say things as long as they don't mean to lie. Or as long as they don't consciously think they are lieing. I think this was mentioned in book 5 somewhere? Something like...if an Aes Sedai TRULY believed the sky was Green...then she could tell you it was Green. It had to be to their knowledge a lie, meant for lieing. So I think sarcasm is allowed. Hope that made sense, lol wasn't my best wording.

To be honest I didn't mind the Mat chapters, I thought they were still funny, its just a different kind of humour from what everyones used to

The 2nd Mat chapter was alright. I believe you are right Ehko, it's just different. But I do see what Olivia means by Sanderson not being as subtle as RJ. He's actually pretty blunt.

Did Mat always talk this much though?

  7. I was just reading chapter 22, where Lews Therrin is actually talking to/answering back to Rand's question's. They are talking about the Bore , and he says why the sealing failed and was so weak. Because they had to touch the Dark One himself with Saidin in order to get it to work.

Early Cadsuane was saying how she thinks Callandor must have some other use. I'm thinking some how this sword will be used in sealing the Dark One. Though I have no clue how.

    And I just read chapter 23...wow...that was...stunning.

And you guys are right...the Mat chapter...that was just bad. I have always enjoyed Mat chapters THE most. That one...it just wasn't the same. The rest of the book is good enough though. I like it =]. I just hope Mat gets better :sugar:

One thing I noticed about the book...either the language or how it went about certain common things was...the language/interaction's seemed more...modern. Maybe that's just me though. Like phrases we hear now days that I don't recall hearing before in WoT, though I forgot what phrase it was.

  8. I had to do recover password and have the site make me a new password. I couldn't login :o.

The site looks good though =].
