  1. I've seen lifelike anime. Most are in the Japanese language thus they don't get show on Western stations. You can't over-generalize an entire genre. Western style animation is just as flawed as Eastern.

    Face: The eyes and mouth are always a prime target for making a distinction between Manga and any other art form. The eyes tend to take up a large portion of the face' date=' and the mouth can either be as small as a centimeter long, or it can take up the entire area under the nose. Manga opposers often point this out as the reason they don't like Manga. Again, I must go back to the flower example. Of the 700,000 gestures a person can make, (look it up) at least two thirds of them involve some fluctuation of the mouth and eyes. Manga art exaggerates the size of the eyes and mouth in order to better portray the range of emotions that can be portrayed by the eyes and mouth alone. Since the eyes and mouth are such an important factor in nonverbal communication, I believe sacrificing some realism in order to bring greater detail to the facial expressions is a worthy tradeoff.
