  1. I can't really imagine Moiraine having children, she never struck me as especially maternal. I do wonder at what age Aes Sedai stop being able to have children at though (which may seem like an odd question) but given that they have the potential to live to almost 1000 (total guess at life expectancy since I don't have the books to hand), I suppose they could still choose to have children into their 100s? Maybe...I don't even know why this popped into my head

  2. Yeah, that still pisses me off to no end as well...I still liked Siuan's character at the end, even if she was a bit too "Egwene's the best amyrilin ever" pfft

Whats even more funny is that I'm still bitter over Lanfear being killed off by Perrin

  3. I just reread the last three, every time I try and reread the whole series I kinda get lost in aCoS and then give up...eventually I will reread the whole series...hopefully.

Also when I was on ToM I just skipped chunks of Perrin's PoV because lets face the story doesn't really progress all that much until Galad and the whitecloaks appear

  4. most saddened by Siuan's and...Lanfears...but I think with both it was more the way they died rather than the fact that they did. Bela's too for that matter, but mainly because I felt like she should have survived (it was like Hedwig all over again)

Most unexpected, probably Egwene and Romanda maybe, if only because I always assumed Romanda and Lelaine's fates would be intertwined, i.e. if one died the other would too

Anyone I didn't care about...Gawyn who had really turned into a whiney brat in the more recent books, Demandred (maybe if he had actually been more significant before his point of death then I would have cared), Slayer who really should have died about 4 books ago.

Surprised to feel sad for...Bela? Ituralde, Allanna

Any other thoughts...spent most of the book expecting Lan to get killed and was so pleased when he didn't. I was also insanely surprised that Cadsuane made it through the last battle and once again happy that she did. Was kinda hoping Faile would die, even though I knew it wasn't going to happen, likewise with Elayne

  5. I don't think my opinions towards many of the characters has changed significantly. Still love Moiraine, Lanfear and Moggy for no explainable reason :P I like Nyneave alot more now than I did in the initial books. Egwene has continued to annoy me right up until her death.

I've always liked Mat, but by the end of the series he was probably one of my favourite characters. I probably stopped hating Rand so much, but still don't like him especially. I've went from indifference towards Perrin to actively disliking him.

  6. Finally getting round to rereading aMoL, I've been meaning to do it for about 6 months or so and I must admit its better the second time around. In part because I'm taking my time and not trying to read the whole book in a day but also because I'm not constantly wondering where Moiraine is. (I'm also skipping large parts of Perrin's PoV which helps)

  7. I was wondering who else is on the kindle bandwagon? I still feel like a total sellout for getting a kindle but they are sooo handy.

I also wanted to mention I know a really good deal on kindle versions of the WoT books, if anyone wants to know more about it they should pm me. :D

  8. I'm glad these forums are still here :)

Moiraine is still one of my favourite characters as well, even though I felt like the last book ruined her slightly. I've never really been able to articulate what made me like her so much but she was really what kept me reading WoT even after she died. I feel like had Moiraine just been in a memory of light more, I would have liked the book much more. As it is I was relatively happy with how everything played out...I only wish Jordan had been able to finish the books.

I plan on re-reading all of WoT at some point (got them all for the kindle via a friend), I'll just need to prepare myself for it first.

  9.

The only real comfort I have about the lack of Moiraine is that Nynaeve fans didn't get much either.

But it is very disappointing how little character interaction and development we did get. Lan and Moiraine being awkward makes sense, but why not in one of Lan's povs have him think on that? Or even Moiraine think of it? Or have Moiraine think of anything for that matter besides Rand and tea.

I would have liked more of Nynaeve to be honest.

I know exactly what you mean, or a pov from someone other than Rand about Moiraine being back. Siuan or Cadsuane would have great examples. It was as if once Moiraine was back, no one stopped to think about it. Although I did love that there was still some tension between Mo and Cadsuane!

I totally spoiled myself about Egwene's death (it was my own fault I opened a thread name spoilers of doom on rafo) so I spent the whole book waiting for it. I thought Egwene's death was wonderfully written and was a fitting end. If I had actually liked Egwene before aMoL then I might have cried ^_^ . I also kept waiting for Lan to die and was so pleased that he survived.

  10. For me the most dissapointing part of the book was:

Perrin still hunting Slayer in Telaranrhiod. Granted Lanfear did make those scenes slightly more interesting, but still he's been trying to kill slayer for like 4 books! I feel like this should have ended in ToM, making room for more Moiraine in this book ;). Also wasn't happy with Perrin killing Lanfear but in retrospect I don't think I would have been happy with anyone killing Lanfear.

edit: I mean on top of having so little Moiraine in the book, since that was much more dissapointing.

  11. Literally just about to make this thread.

I...literally just finished it so my feelings are still all jumbled. I liked the book for the most part, but there was too much of some characters and not enough of others. Other plot lines were left completely unresolved...bah, I'll make a list:

    *Here there be spoilers*

    The Pro's

    Moiraine's return & Survival

Egwene's death (and no, not because I wanted her to die)

Moggy surviving (lets face it she'll find a way out of that a'dam)

    Cadsuane's fate :)

Mat and Lan in general in this book :)

The end in general, I didn't hate it.

    The cons

THE COMPLETE LACK OF MOIRAINE AFTER HER RETURN!!

    Lanfear's death

    Siuan's Death

    Bella's Death

Perrin STILL trying to kill slayer after what...four books?

    What happened to Setalle Anan??

    the complete lack of Thom

    Graendal's new makeover

  12.

It, along with Moggy's fate, made an otherwise disappointing book almost worthwhile.

What dissapointed you about the book?

The main thing I found dissapointing about the book was the distinct lack of Moiraine...and Lanfear's death but I knew that was going to happen.

I loved that Moggy didn't die!! I know she's in an a'dam but I have faith she'll get out of it.

  13. Anybody else insanely excited / apprehensive for a memory of light?

I had a look at some of the spoilers on dragonmount and didn't get very far before I realised I actually didn't want to know anything (which is a first for me).

I'm kinda worried about the death toll by the end though...most of the characters I like are evil :(

Edit: okay I went back to dragonmount. Someone needs to take this computer away from me, I feel like burning my eyes out!
