    I don't know what to make of her reappearance. Lanfear certainly never showed any loyalty to the dark one, but would she go crying to Rand when things got bad? I don't think so, she's still got her dignity Actually yeah she probably would.

     

    But that in no way makes me think she was actually being genuine.

    My new favourite theory is that Nakomi = Verin, if only because I knew Nakomi seemed wierdly familiar when she appeared. Although I do like the idea of the seanchan travelling into an empty tower.

     

    I've yet to decide if Cyndane/Lanfear's sudden repentance is genuine or not. Its seems more in character for her to be messing with Rand, then again she is pretty crazy so who knows.

     

    Elaida's token reappearance has all but ruined her character, so I'm just going to pretend it never happened :P.

    In the first few books Moiraine probably seemed like an ice queen because of the contrast between her and the two rivers folk (especially Nynaeve) all of whom were incapable of hiding their emotions at that point. Whereas Moiraine always seemed calm and composed. I never thought she was an ice queen but then Moiraine was always my favourite character so I paid more attention to her.

     

    Considering what she went through I'm impressed at how Moiraine is. I mean look at Rand who went crazier after being trapped in a box for like 5 minutes or Egwene who still can't look at an a'dam without flinching. These reactions seemed perfectly reasonable whereas Moiraine can't be human right after being tortured?

    I always thought that the bond was severed because Moiraine was trapped in an alternate dimension. But in that scene she doesn't know if Lan is alive or dead before she goes through the doorway, which suggests she broke the bond herself.

    Finally finished the book, I'll probably reread it slower now to get a better feel of it now but I did enjoy it.

     

    The best parts had to be the Tower of Ghenji scenes. When Noal/Jain told Mat to tell any Malkieri that Jain died clean I thought that was such an emotional scene even though he was never a character I paid any attention to. The Moiraine scenes after were great (there just wasn't enough), when she proposed my reaction was pretty much the same as Mats.

     

    The scenes that had me laughing the most were Mat's letter to Elayne and Galad & Berelain meeting for the first time.

     

    The best written scene was also the...worst, if that makes sense. It had to be Avi's journey in Rhuiden which really made me worry about how the series could potentially end. The shadow winning I could live with, the Seanchan, not so much ^_^

     

    Also had a question- should things with spoilers in the first sentance be wrapped in spoiler tags so they don't appear in the "latest discussions" part of the main site?

     

    I actually meant to put this in the Towers of Midnight thread instead of this one, but my brain doesn't work tonight :P
