It just makes me sick to see things like this. It's so obvious that animals have feelings. If you watch the video you can clearly see these animals are completely terrified. Even if you agree with animal testing, the things that go on at this testing facility are terrible. They're breaking federal law by torturing these creatures. The fact that they deny vet care and euthanasia just astounds me.

Be a "Blue" and go check it out.

Oh god, I hate it when they use animals for testing. I can never buy that logic about how it is for the good of humankind. Who decides that humans are more important than other animals?

I haven't yet had the courage to go visit Kaitlin's link, but I will...

The following is an excerpt from The Wood Beyond by Reginald Hill (pp.50-51; published by Random House/Dell). The 'he' in question is Edgar Wield, a CID sergeant in Yorkshire, one of my favourite fictional characters.

This really sums up how I feel about the whole animal testing thing...

He watched as a radiantly beautiful young woman... picked up a tiny monkey which threw its arms around her neck in a baby-like need for reassurance. Expertly, she disengaged it... and plunged a hypodermic needle into the base of its spine.

‘Ouch,’ said Wield. ‘Doesn’t that hurt?’

‘Done properly, the animal hardly feels it,’ she reassured him...

‘No, Jane,’ he said amiably, ‘it was you I meant.’

You just have to love Wield! Anyway, the woman, Jane, goes on to acidly inform Wield that perhaps he should talk to someone with rheumatoid arthritis before getting so judgmental. So, Wield bends down and tickles the animal, making soothing noises at it. Then he straightens and tells Jane: 'I just did.'!!!
