Yes I got hot under the collar (yay PMS) but that wasn't me throwing a fit. Trust me, when I lose it you'll know. However, I suppose I just reached my breaking point; I'm so tired of going on WoT forums and having various male readers (because that's the ones who make such posts) calling Aes Sedai all sorts of names, because oh my god, they don't sleep with Rand. Admittly, I hate Rand with a passion, so any positive mention of him is going to make me go batty.

 

On a personal level, would I like to be friends with someone like her? No, she'd drive me nuts!

Anyway, there is nothing wrong with different opinions, but I think we should all *looks at Jan* watch the language. Foul words set a nasty tone, and that doesn't really lead to discussion but arguments.

That is a secondary reason for anti-Aes Sedai sentiment, and you know it. The other, more important reasons were listed above.

If you believe this, then stop to consider that you may be taking my comments against Moiraine, the FICTIONAL BOOK CHARACTER, a little too personally.

*My comment about Rand was actually about Wotmania, not anything on MW. I suppose I could have made that more clear, but I didn't want to drag another forum's name into this. I don't think it is possible to troll a forum you own, and besides, trolling implies I was doing something on purpose.

 

*My response to Jan was a joke from me to her. Besides, you seemed a bit more emotional about Moiraine's faults than I did about why I disagreed. Although, your choice of vocabulary might have given that effect.

 

*Sexist? I'm sorry, but in my experience on Wotmania and LJ, the people who start the "Let's Flame Aes Sedai" threads are male. I will say that it is possible it's the same five males who just keep restarting the threads, but my memory of names is such I can't be sure.

The same reason as why cold calculating men are admired as brave and selfless and women as bitches, I guess! I'm not sure that RJ made Rand a character to be admired, to be very honest.

 

Or call it redressing the balance!

 

Anyway, I'm sick of men thinking that the normal order of things is what males like, what males deem right. And that is the tone WOT seems to be taking with the later books, which is why I'm a bit off them. I can't see why a world with no relation to ours should be having the same stereotypes as we propagate.

Most people on these forums don't agree with me on WoT things (aside from Moiraine being cute as a bug). Yet, I don't tell them not to post. At the same time, I'm going to post my own opinion.

I think the girlies Moiraine and Jan might have a point... Lan is at least as cold as Moiraine, probably even more. But no one holds that against him (I wonder if he'd shiver) because it seems like males are accepted as really cold and loved anyway (especially by Jan).

 

So I can understand that it is hitting a nerve when people hold coolness against Moiraine but not against the icy WoT males.

I actually think Lan is colder than Moiraine. And Vertex, no, I don't like cold men... I like Lan for his loyalty and Moiraine for her dedication to her cause. But I don't like Moiraine or Lan's apparent coldness.

So I can expect you to get nasty and personal with ME when I make statements against a BOOK CHARACTER? Sounds like A+ logic to me.

 

Whatever males you're making generalizations about have nothing to do with me, so stop likening me to whomever the hell you're talking about. It's offensive, as well as utterly tactless.

I know this is off topic but I have to say that the world will be patriacal for some times yet and its easier to just accept other peoples views and explain to them yours.
