She is not a lesbian! *gasps*
Her sister is the lesbian! Not the bossy one, the other.

There are more important things than language *nodnod* Like Santa! You should start by learning about him... and then maybe how to read bus timetables or upload copyrighted material on YouTube.
I think I may love you.

I agree with what you have said, especially about it being hard when looking for work and settling in. Yes, that is a good way to put things.

I am having silky tofu that is flavored like strawberries! *dances* Also, some orange juice!
What a very clever thread to think of.

I disagree, and it is because in many countries people are able to learn more than one language. They do it because in order to communicate with others, it is needed. I wish I was clever at languages. In the area I live in there are Japanese, Chinese, Korean, German, Mexican, and Egyption people that I am pretty friendly with, and it is very difficult to remember what phrase is said to whom, and how to say things correctly. Most of my friends from other countries can speak English very well, but there are times that there is a confusion, and it would help if we both knew some of each other's language.
I've actually had to modify the way I speak... and it's reflected in the weird way I write! I try not to, but it's hard to break the habit. Our country needs to learn that in order to communicate we must try to meet others half way. What's the difference that things are written in Spanish? In many countries things are translated in English for us! It is a double standard.
-
Yes, it would! Maybe we should really try to be like that, instead of getting so miffed and concerned with the question of religion itself!
-
Ohoh, I actually thought Egwene was headed toward that from the start. *blush*
I wish the books were written with a little more simplicity. I just mean that the descriptions are long and drawn out. There would be more room for other stuff! I also wish there were expanded pillowfriend scenes.
Not a lot, but just as much as maybe some of the male/female stuff has been written. -
Oh but I was serious!

*scratches the Elaida itch*

I said that about running away because I have issues with the religious leaders of that denomination, and not with God whatsoever.
I have always believed in a higher power, but you might say that it has always been in spite of the Catholic teachings. I would never do something so silly as to stop believing in a higher power because I don't believe the people who teach the religion they made up about it. I just had to clear that up, because what was explained wasn't accurate to me.

I also confess that I had a dream about Elaida and Momo last night. They came over to my house and wanted to know about how to use all of the stuff in the house. Momo called everything that was electronic, "veeedio".
Elaida played Spyro on my Playstation but broke it. I usually never have these dreams! I confess I like them!

LOL! *claps for Tosh!*

I believe that times may not have been so violent without the contribution of religious armies. Certain groups got their power through the intimidation of being connected to a higher power, and because of that the people did not wish to stop whatever was about to happen, or believed that these armies were destined to win because they were endowed with holy power. It is a time tested method of getting what you want, and destroying everything in your path with impunity.
Primative people developed rules for living together as a group to protect themselves and insure survival of the species, and these guidelines were absorbed into notions of religion at a later date. I agree with everyone who said that.

-
Yes, each state has to decide certain things that are valid for that state, and then the country as a whole decides on things as well.
I would imagine Spanish to be the other choice for a primary language in Arizona, because that's an extremely prevalent language all over our country.

In the comic both Mo and her father have very bold noses that look the same. Since Galad is pretty much looking the same he probably has it, and Caraline looks almost identical so she must also.
RJ was very careful about approving the characters in the comic, and said they looked as close to how he imagines them as possible without being able to draw, himself.

-
How could that be said!Erm, could there be such a thing as a triple entendre?
-
As one of my friends said once, God made science, so there!

Anyway, the trouble with humans is we take things too far! The concept of religion is all very fine - heck, it's good to have something to believe in - but it's trouble when people start interpreting it to their own advantage. This current veil issue in England, for example - I wonder where it's going; and I was just thinking some time ago how caste-based violence in India seems to be on the rise...
Just for the record, I'm agnostic, so if anyone wants to convince me about the existence (or not) of god, etc., feel free!
I think I agree with Jan here.
Religion is all well and good until it is used in the way described by Buggie. A big problem is that we are not perfect, and so we mess up very much by assuming that by following the technical traditions of religion we are somehow better than others in this religious way. Nothing is perfect, except for kittens that are red. *nods humbly*

The nobles in RJ's books don't seem to have too much trouble with inbreeding. This is probably because he believes this to be an icky thing.

Yes, they are not aliens, but small faeries pretending to be people. They are called, "Small Per'verts Who St'are" faeries and usually live cuddled up on many layers of silk. So, Olivia was partly right in mentioning silk, as was Marie in suggesting they are not human.

Baby turtles are the cutest.

I wonder how much like each other they all look? Are the similarities between Caraline and Moiraine just a fluke? I mean, of course families look like each other, but it seemed like RJ had the Damodreds all having very much the same features.
Galad probably looks like a tall man version of the female Damodreds, from how he's described. -
I'm so lazy about this.
*avoids this thread because of said laziness* Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters - J.D. Salinger

Hmm... aren't people odd everywhere?
I know yesterday was odd, like watching my life so far in rewind. Spent they later morning early afternoon with a person I've known now for 13 months, then people I've known for 4 years, then someone I've known just about all my life. I'm closer to the people I've known for shorter amounts of time... which is a scary thought.
@Kati: I don't get your longer post... I'm lost!!!

It was for people that play a specific game.
I tried to label it that way. Sorry if it was unclear. -
Poetry is a valid form of expression, and it seems like we all agree about that in here.

Here is a melodramatic one about a stinky ex-boyfriend. *giggles* There's no rhythm to it or anything! It's very old and bad, but is my most angst/pissed one so I thought it would fit with the previous discussion.

thrusting biorhythm
pushing out grunts and licked fingers
bourbon and JD
clicking, clicking glass
to glass
head to head
unkempt triumph
jerking, always jerking
off, over, with
alone
woman made glass
to his stone
traveling through his jerking,
jerking mind
soft, pink flesh and brown
daydreaming
pulsed by jerking hand
stone is his mind
blind stone
we're all soft
and hard, hard
harder
our hands, bones
my voice
more terrible
more thrusting
most remembrance
frightening because
I hold reality in my hands,
and he?
just a d*ck
And here is a very lovey one!
droplets of an
ivory dew
trail down the mouth
of his silence
this: a cavern
empty and moist

An important thing about poetry is that it is a release. When you are sad you release this sadness it is constructive, and sometimes well written ways.

Poetry is important.
Lots of people write happy poems too. They write about being in love, which is arguably the happiest feeling of all, or being in lust.

He was an intellectual! They don't mean not to be very hands on, but it happens! Also, the youngest child is often given things they want, but sort of left to their own devices a lot.
Also, I will only agree to Anny being a lesbian if her lover was named Candiswen.

I think they were all killed some time around NS. Someone was picking off the Damodreds.
(I'm having a difficult time thinking of words!)
-
I don't really think he spoiled her more than the youngest child (and a girl at that!) is usually spoiled.

If anything, he may have remained slightly distant from Moiraine due to his being somewhat of an intellectual, making the times that he spent with her that much more important for a young girl.
He's golden compared to every other Cairhienin noble that has been written about! Except, of course for his female children and wife.

I love me some Cersi, but if all the pkers decide to move to a new playing field...well, I'll stay.

A spider crawled under my kitchen door and came into the house last night!
It was big, and had a funny green bit on it. It was swept back outside!
