I was talking about this to Niklas before, but it's appropriate here too. I cannot understand how people could be with each other in heaven. Most of the best stuff is naughty. If it is in heaven God or whoever could just walk by a window and peek in to ask you why you aren't saying your prayers right now and then you would be caught by the Higher Power! That must be even worse than by parents.
At least on earth you can't actually see the Higher Power or whoever looking.

I have nothing much to argue about actually in this thread, because I think that both sides have very valid points. There is a such thing as flavor, and it is important to a story. If a story was set in Sweden rather than the US (Or India, Ireland, etc.
) there would be different terms used for similar things. What I mean to say is, even if things were written in the exact same language the entire flavor of the book would, and should be different. It is being authentic.On the other hand, too many cliches do ruin a story. Storytellers should strive toward making something their own. If they rely too much on recycled material the story will suffer. How much is too much can and has been debated.

The Oaths do cut the lifespan by more than half, I think. It seems like channelers who haven't taken the Oaths could live maybe 800 years and possibly longer. 300 years for an Aes Sedai is an extremely long time.

Momo and Siuan are so caring toward each other it's strange. You wouldn't think they are the sort of women who would be, but that might be precisely why it worked out that way.

Yes, only Aes Sedai have agelessness because the Oath Rod does it. The other channelers just slow. It's not the same thing because they don't stop aging, they just have a very long lifespan.

Caddy is excellent. I agree with all that said she treats people the way they deserve to be treated. And, as much as I like little Momo, she was acting childish. Caddy was trying to tell Moiraine to keep her skin, and even more important things, intact.
