Thom is too old.

Bleh. I hate sick days. I'm so darned bored at home. You know how they say it's impossible to catch up on wash, that there's always more? They lie.

 

Anyhow. Thom is too old for Moiraine. In the FAQ on ages at the wotmania board he is described as being 70 or so. Unless he's a hiding the ability to channel, he's going to kick it fairly soon. Even if he lives to be 90, that only gives them 20 years. And who knows how many of those years will be spent with Thom still able to control his bodily functions.

 

Rainey is in her 40's, which is very young for an AS. He's around 30 years older then her... Moiraine and the boys are probably closer in age. She'll outlive Mat and Perrin by a long time due to her channeling, so in a strange way she's younger then them. If she comes back stilled, she'll be even younger looking then Thom. He'd look like her grandfather.

And god knows he has some wierd ones. Ever noticed how he always gets women to take off their clothes or fuss about in their shifts?

 

I never liked the idea of Moiraine and Thom. I always thought she and Lan should get things going, but that's not going to happen, I guess.

Interesting points.. I never understood why he had so much in there about shifts either. People have said that there is little sex in WoT, but there is an incredible about of nudity and subtle things such as that.

 

I wouldn't mind Thom rescuing her. It'd be sweet if they had more of a platonic thing going, however.

 

I like Siuan, or Lan for Mo. They both seem to get her, though with Lan it seems to be just because they spent so many years with just each other's constant company.

 

Even if something happened where Thom was stilled as a price for getting Mo back, and this made him look younger... it'd still be rather odd.

Well...I don`t mind him saving Moiraine(although if I was Moiraine I`d prefer to do this myself).I just don`t like them as a couple.If I was RJ Thom would "accidently" die in a battle or sth like this.

But Moiraine and Siuan are really great together.

Hmm...you know, the whole Thom-rescueing her I think might diminsh her character a bit.

This is true. It'd have to be done in a very careful and specific way. It'd be better and more like her character to do it herself, but, at this point I'd rather have Thom rescue her then have her not come back at all. After that, she can go back to kicking booty.

 

Maybe it won't be a rescue. Maybe the S & F's need another player before they can start the game. So, while they wait they're all just sitting around playing poker and munching on pretzels.
