Travel to the moon

ok i was wondering about this the other day. could one Travel to the moon? yes, you'd probably die when you get there, but still.

I think Moghedien says something to Nynaeve during their fight in TSR about traveling to "worlds in the sky", which I always took for some kind of space exploration. I guess they could just channel the air they need to breathe, on the moon or anywhere else.

Robert Jordan Answers: Travel to other planets within the solar system would require a circle of fairly strong channelers, though not necessarily as many as thirteen, depending on exactly how far out they wanted to go. Travel to a planet in another solar system would require a rather large circle (of the maximum possible size) of very strong channelers, and there would a limit on how far they could go in one jump. They could planet-hop, of course. Travel to another galaxy would be beyond them even if they began on the planet in this galaxy nearest the target galaxy.

Wow that's actually really cool.

 

And let me take a moment to mention a disappointment I had with WoT. I remember that scene between Moggy and Nynaeve and I agreed with the Forsaken: Randlanders seemed ignorant of certain sciences specifically astronomy. And then all of sudden in TGS I believe it was, there's an Aes Sedan with the whole solar system mapped out. I know it's wrong of me to assume they're ignorant but it was just jarring.

SKIMMING! Not Traveling. I always get those two confused.

It would have to be Travelling. Travelling requires knowing your start point and Skimming requires knowing your destination. RJ mentioned that they'd need a circle of very powerful channelers to open a Gateway to so far. And that Travelling to other planets of the Solar system would require a really large circle. And the dialogue between Moggy and Nynaeve... I was like, listen more carefully Nynaeve!

Oh my gosh, I so didn't like how Nynaeve just blew off that part! I mean, yeah she's trying to kill you, but the stars! Learn about the stars!

Yeah, and when they caught Moggy, I was like: you have a'dam, torture the last tiny piece of information from her, she's a Forsaken and you have a tool to make her feel like you're taking her skin off. I was really disappointed by Nynaeve's lack of interest in many things, but Healing...

She is very one track minded. :\ It's one of the things I disliked about her in the beginning.
