Something I was never sure about

Recommended Posts

Yup, there is a difference. If I remember right -- which is doubtful as I remember very little, and need to read the series again -- the True Power is the one the followers of the Dark One are able to draw upon. The One Power, on the other hand, is saidar and saidin.

Again... I might be seriously mixed up, but that's the idea I got!

As for the second question.. :D

And how does Ishamael restore Lews Therin's sanity after he killed everyone close to him?

I don't think a specific weave was ever mentioned, but it's an alternate form of healing using the True Power. Ishy used/uses that almost exclusively. That's why he's such a big nutter, because it twists the user's mind.

Whitty, don't feel bad, for actually true reading from cover to cover, I just finished book three... But, what do you mean not caught it? Reread Dragonmount in "The Eye of the World," for Lews's healing...

And the True Power is used exculsivly by the Forsaken, or rather, Mordrin/Ishamael. The others seem to use the One Power some too, but not him.

The other Forsaken mainly just use the One Power, and do not like to use the True Power unless needed.

I mean about the True Power and the One Power....So does that mean the True Source is different from the One Power? Holy hell...I'm all confused now...

The True Source is made up of two complementary parts: saidin, the male half, and saidar, the female half. Each has separate properties and affinities, working at the same time with and against each other. Only women can touch saidar, and only men saidin. Each is completely unable to sense the other half of the Source, except as an absence or negativity. Even the methodologies by which men and women utilize the One Power that emanates from the True Source are so completely different that no woman can teach a man to use the power, and no man a woman.

So, the One Power comes from the True Source, which is a creation force. The True Power has it's own source, and that comes from the DO.
