For some reason I imagine Mo to have a very musical french sounding voice, but also as if she were taught english by a bbc proper speaking brit. Odd. There's no other way to explain it.

 

The rest: I picture them like RJ described them since I read that article except for Saldaean which I still picture as slightly German sounding, with Shienaran having a more North African sound.

Why do you expect all of them to speak english in the first place?

Well they speak the vulger version of the old tongue, but we don't know what that sounds like. :wink:

Maybe they don't speak English, but they're own Randland language. But of course, we wouldn't know it, so it just has to be translated into English.

Exactly! heh. I think it's odd that they all speak the same language, just with different accents. I'd think that some countries would have like, their own native language, ya know?

Yes. You'd think that the Aiel would especially have their own language, being so far removed from the Westlanders.

It's only been 3000 years, and since they all started from the same place, it isn't that odd at all.

Americans speak very different english now then how we once spoke, and many of our words are not very much like the way UKers speak. Three thousand years ago in this time people weren't speaking any language that is recognizable now.

Besides, our history hasn't been as dramatic as theirs. ANNNNND (I'm on a high!) how different would our world be if there was only one language 3000 years ago?

Lol, very true! :wink: I concede to your points. However, Latin was used through much of Western Europe not that long ago, and it evolved into several region specific languages over a relatively short period of time.

I donno. I still think it's possible for them to have different languages within 3000 years. I mean, if they can have different accents, why not languages?
