I agree with you marie, I am also kinda disappointed at her choice of words,.... her intent is quite clear,.... but I would have liked a more demonstrative way.

 

One thing I am puzzled about is why she did not choose to tell Thom about the Aes-sedai responsible for his nephew's stilling,....she seems confident that they would meet again and she would tell him ??

I'm a little foggy on this as its been awhile since I've read that bit of the series...but are we sure Moiraine knew the identities of the Aes Sedai that stilled Thom's nephew? Just knew that the Reds had been involved and it was...bad?

 

She wasn't confidant that they would meet again, I think, as the letter implies she knows that Mat might refuse or any number of other things might happen...

 

Of course had Mat refused he'd get his ass kicked.

I think she always knew that he was intrested in her,... she could make it out I think,..... as for thom he never bothered to hide his affection for her,....... though he did not wear it on his sleeve,....
