Thom's orgins

This has been bugging me, more greatly than you shall ever know! Basically, I've always been under the belief that Thom was a blond (back in the day, obviously) and from Andor. But, but, people disagree with me! So I wanted to get some opinions.

I agree with the first part, he was/is blond, was exceedingly handsome and cunning. I doubt he was originally from andor. Agreed he had a nephew there,... but I don't think his origins are andorian.

 

RJ has promised a prequel to the EOTW,the book will form a link b/n the new-spring and EOTW. Probably he may shed some more light on thom's origins in this book.

 

Actually he even suggested the release of the prequel before 'The Memory of Light'

Well, I actually think he is from Andor, but he's travelled a lot.

 

As for the blondness... no comment.

He's tan, blue eyed, and tall...that's why I don't understand the Cairhienin angle.

Well, I've never actually thought about Thom when he was young...

 

But I picture him with black hair. I know that's not logical!

I pictured him having blondish or light brown hair when he was younger. His mustache made me think he could possibly be from Tarabon. If he's Cairhienin and Andoran that would explain the different look, though.

I think what he looks like need not have anything to do with where he's from, apart from things like skin colour and all, I mean. I do feel his travels have a lot to do with, say, the way he talks or his moustache or the way he does his hair.

That's true, Jan. He is widely traveled. I was thinking that the mustache could be the one throwback from Tarabon he had, but it was only a suspicion.

I still say he's from Andor! Or at least, doesn't have any Cairhienin in him.
