2. Will the 'Song' that is being sought by the tinkers ever be found ?? If it is found, what will it be used for ??

3. Rand on a funeral bier ??

4. Rand in a boat with three ladies ??

5. "Twice shall the day dawn "..... or something like that.

1. No idea, but I am pretty sure they will be able to channel. Channelling is a genetic recessive, if I am not mistaken, and if Rand is recessive, and Aviendha is recessive, then 100% of their children will have the ability, if not the spark, unless channelling is not a true Mendelian trait.

 

2. I have often wondered about the Song of the Tuatha'an. Perhaps it is meant to be played on the Horn of Valere in Tarmon Gaidon.

 

3. Well Min has already told Rand that he will die. Perhaps this will signify something major in the future, perhaps the end of TG, or even the 3rd Age.

 

4. No clue at all.

 

5. I remember reading this, but not the context in which I read it. This is reminiscent of the Trinity Test (i.e. the first nuclear detonation in Los Alamos), the day that the newspapers called "The Day the Sun Rose Twice". A scholar of military history such as RJ might use something parallel to this in a fictional work.

 

 

AS FOR A CHANNELER CONVERTED DARK AGAINST HIS/HER WISHES:

1. I believe avi-rand's kids will not be able to channel as they will be born after the TG in the new age, when there will be no channeling.

 

2. The song, I think is a collective tune that rises out of many songs being sung together,... it will be used to heal the blight.

 

No clue about 3,4.

 

5. Exactly the same thing went through my mind as well, but how to cause something equivalent to a nuclear blast ?? Perhaps use a 72 channelers ring ??

 

I think the cleansing of saidin was something similar to a holocaust, considering the damage to the area sorrounding Shador lagoth.

What makes you suggest that there will be no channelling in the 4th age? I guess I didn't get that memo.

This is a long shot, but I have always believed in it. When I said that there will be no channelling I meant to say that in the next age no new channellers will be born.

 

The fight of good vs evil does not start and end with one age and one such fight can last over a few ages, for example in the last age, the dark scored a minor victory with a bore being opened into the DO's prison and it being patched up and not remade(or some other permanent soln. being found). This age will be a deciding age and there are many factors pointing to that.

 

I think the fight will be decided one way or another this time around and the next age will be an intermediate age where in all the surviving channelers will die and the people will slowly forget what channeling is. The age that follows the next age will be similar to what we call the first age.

Interesting perspective.

 

It is more or less understood that channelling marked the beginning of the second age, the age we know as the Age of Legends. Hence it is quite possible that its absence will make a significant-enough occurrence to mark the end of an age.

 

I also agree that this time, the battle between the Light and the Dark will have a much more decisive conclusion than the last time, if in the last time you could even call it a conclusion. The DO, while immobilized, still affected the world by creating the taint of saidin, so you couldn't really call him defeated. Remember that the DO exists outside of the Great Pattern, so it does beg the question -- Can he really even be defeated? Or is the defeat of the Shadow supposed to be a figurative victory in the end? Maybe there will always be evil in the end. Maybe the Prophecies are incorrect, or maybe Rand and the Lightfriends will not succeed. Even the Age of Legends was not free of evil (think back to Semirhage's twisted sadism).

 

What, however, makes you believe that channelers will die off in the intermediate time? A work of the DO? Perhaps a stigmatization of channelers? Maybe an epidemic that will only affect those who can channel? Or will they all die or get sterilized at TG (I just thought of this now, but a rather common side effect of nuclear irradiation is sterilization. Kind of makes you wonder again about "twice the day shall dawn...") ?

 

So please, elaborate on your hypotheses. I am interested to hear more. :-)

I am of the belief that channelling will survive into the fourth age, or at least the beginning. It is possible that as the age continues it's "breed out" so to speak.

 

As far as Avi's weird kids, I don't know. Maybe they all won't be hers biologcially? I'm not sure. I've never paid Rand's women much mind.
