Avi's babies

Min had a viewing about Avi's four babies being strange (outside of being born at the same time). I have no real idea how they'll be strange, but would like to hear your ideas. =)

I think Min is not telling the truth. I believe she is infact jealous of Avi having four babies with her love. So it seems reasonable to me that she, being a girl, uses girl methods to make her competition feel sad. Doing things like that makes girls feel better... except for in American movies where the girls always make up in the end.

We have talked of this before and I'll say again, I think Avi-Rand's babies will not be able to channel.

While I can appreciate your hypothesis that in the 4th age no one will be able to channel, ajit, I can't find myself agreeing with it.

 

I suppose it's because I'd like to believe that it will continue to exist, but the Blight will not. But then again, the more I think about it, the more I think that hypothesis is plausible.

 

I DO NOT, however, believe that non-channelling babies will be wrought from two channelling parents, due to Mendelian genetics, and because RJ tends to follow a pretty scientific rubric for the rules of his world. Or perhaps they possibly COULD channel, but they are not born with the spark. Or who knows? Weirder things have happened in the WoT/

That would be interesting. However, we as readers pretty much know where Aviendha is at any given moment, though, and we know the males at her disposal for...such an act. Moreover, Aviendha seems pretty touchy about who has an interest in her, prurient or not. I think we'd see it coming.

Seriously...I'm just throwing ideas out there in the hopes someone will come up with something far more interesting/intelligent.

 

It's possible Min just misinterpted her own viewing. I don't really trust her after the whole "Moiraine is dead even though she still has to fulfill my viewings" bit.

Moiraine is very intelligent, very shrewd, and extremely good at reading how events might unfold. I think that is bolstered by her experience as a Blue Sister, but that is unimportant for my point. I think she above all others realizes the true value of Min. Min is a trump card in the WoT cast of characters. Not a one person has been able to duplicate her ability, save for the sisters who can occasionally Foretell, but no one can read the future to the extent that Min can. This, of course, is pivotal to determining the fate of the Dragon, and the world, as they proceed onward towards TG.

 

Now, there were plenty of instances after Moiraine visited Rhuidean in which she could have talked with Min, were there not? Taking into account all of the secret consultations Moiraine has with anyone in a given day, is it not possible that she could have told Min that she was going to die, or simply to claim that she was dead and that one of her viewings was wrong? Perhaps she might have done this to reduce Rand's reliance on Min, for whatever reason. Perhaps Moiraine saw (in one of the Rhuidean ter'angreal's 'alternate futures') that Min's cryptic viewings might influence Rand negatively, that it might lead to Rand making a wrong move or decision, which would compromise the world.

Okay, it's 3 a.m. and it was mentioned that we could throw random ideas out there...so that's my excuse for this post.

Okay, Min said she saw Avi having four babies at a time, though there was something strange about that. What she thinks is that there is "somethign strange about that" (about Avi having four at a time)...she did not say something strange about the babies themselves.

 

Maybe (and this is pretty un-backable) she is seeing sort of Elayne's twins reflected with the babies Avi is going to have. Maybe the strange sister-bond Elayne and Aviendha have somehow screwed up Min's viewing and made her see double or something...

 

 

A random point: there's a lot of reference to Rand's "potency" etc. because he fathered twins and will father quadruplets. But the father has nothing to do with how many babies there are: it depends on whether or not the mother double-ovulates that month or if the egg splits after conception. *in humorous tone* Retake 8th grade science class people.

Moiraine never saw Min again after the Waste.

 

Oh and Olivia is right! Elayne's twins is because she had two eggs, not because Rand has power sperm. Although I remember the quote as being there was something strange besides being born four at a time. But I don't have the books with me so I could be wrong.
