Exactly! We do have serious threads, but come on...it's more fun being silly. The characters in WoT take themselves seriously enough. We're here to make fun of them in good natured way, and shrink their egos*.

It's ok. I can see why you'd think that. I imagine for a newcomer it would be a bit strange. I would love serious discussion on Moiraine, but alas, certain members (Vertex and Jan) turn every thread into a sideshow.
