Characters you love to hate...

Or hate to love, whichever the case may be.

(Don't know if these count as spoilers, so if you haven't read upto book eight - maybe nine - just leave now!)

 

For instance, Galina Casban. She's evil, a sexual deviant, killed hundreds of people most likely, and yet I like her. I actually wanted her escape plan to work and for her to be free of the evil Wise Ones. Of course, freedom would mean more people would die and/or come under her unwanted sexual advances. So it makes no sense why I would root for her.

 

It makes even less sense why I feel pity for Moghedien. I don't like her current situation. I think my...not sure "love" is the right word but it works for now, began when Nynaeve/Elayne held her with the a'dam. I just wanted to pet her and say "It'll be okay, lil Forsaken".

I liked Galina! And I love all the Forsaken. The WoTish side of my brain seems to be turned off at present moment, so you'll have to make that do you...

 

Personally, I think it'd be a whole lot more interesting if the Dark Side won. But then...you know...I can be a bit funny.

I love to hate characters like padan fain and liandrin, I was going to include the forsaken in my list then realised I just loved them

I cannot say I love all the Forsaken, because individually or as a whole, they have proved to be rather stupid. But I suppose that's due in large part to RJ's wish to have Rand win the Last Battle.

 

Tuon is a character I hate to love, because...well she's Seanchan and thinks her way is the right way, when even bloody Rand al'Thor can see his own stupidity sometimes. But I still like her chapters. At times.

I suppose I love Amys. I say love, because I don't like her. Like that old song goes "I don't like you, but I love you" (now I'll have it in my head all day).
