Which doll seems more Rainey to you?

  1. 1. Which doll seems more Rainey to you?

    • The first "Soo" doll
      3
    • The second "Dillui" doll
      2
    • I don't think either fit

13 is my favorite out of those (I'll do anything for a pair of green eyes, or blue for that matter). But I still stick with my original vote: none are quite Moiraine. But if you are going to go and make a unique doll, then just pick whatever you like and don't worry what the rest of us think. :cough:

I'm trying to see what other people think, because I am having a hard time deciding! Of course, I'll listen to everyone's thoughts and decide for myself. :cough:

The eyes can all be customized. Mainly I'm wondering which face shape and body would seem most like the essence of Moiraine to everyone (or if that doesn't work for you.. the one most like how she's depicted in the comic!). Maybe there will turn out to be a group concensus or something strange like that!

*nods* Do you think it's the anime style, or something else that makes them too childlike?

Here is a western version of a porcelain doll. It looks like a child, like most western dolls do. However, it's dressed like a little lady. These kind creep me out.

Momo was described as looking like a pretty little porcelain doll, but I don't think they meant that she looked like a six year old girl. These dollfies are going to look a little too perfect, but they are more grownup looking than most western looking ones like in the above piccie. So, when I say which one seems most like her.. it doesn't have to be exact, but just the closest version for you. She isn't going to be little Momo, but she will be a little dollfie that has clothing made to look like a Momo sort of.. not figurine.. not doll exactly.. anime "GI Jane" action figure that is cute? *giggles*

Moiraine has complained that if she gets on a too big of a horse she looks a child. She has large eyes, which is often associated with youth, i.e. childlike appearance. That doesn't mean I think she looks like a kid, but she is not Lanfear or even Morgase. Unfortunately for her she will have a youthful appearance for a long while yet.

There are number of dolls that would fit that description. I think a main problem here is that people aren't really saying what Moiraine is suppose to look like. We know what RJ says she looks like, which is obviously the most accurate, but no one is piping up to say anything specific about what is wrong with the dolls and them being modeled after Moiraine.

Frankly, dolls scare me - whether they are barbie dolls or these BJDs - so none of them will please me for comparison to Moiraine. I was trying to be tactful though since you and Kaitlin like them so much.

What's wrong with them is that they are just too cute (or are intended to be cute) for my image of Moiraine, especially with some of the outfits they are wearing. It's not the body or the face I was really looking at, and I didn't know I was supposed to, but now that Marie has cleared that up, I vote for #2's figure/face.

I'm having a huge problem figuring out which dollfie I want to save up for! It will be a Momo dollfie, and because they are so pricey I have to be very certain of which one I absolutely want...

I love Soo most of all. She most resembles the Momo I pictured before the New Spring comics came out, except that this dollfie is much more anime looking and not as mature as Momo really would be. But, she's also very very serene for a little doll.. in all of her pictures of the different ways people have customized the makeup/dress etc. she's looked that way.

I also love Dillui, and I love the company of dollmakers that she comes from. They have layaway, and they also have free shipping over a certain amount... the amount that Dillui would cost. She looks very much like Momo from the comics. (Ignore the blond hair in the second! A certain little duck made the hair in this pic nice and black so it would be easier to see how she'd look! All of the hair/makeup/eyes on these dolls is all customizable, so it's possible to change their expressions to a large degree. )

And here is a pic of a comic page so that you can see which one fits better!

That's what I said in the first post. It explains that the makeup/eyes/hair is customizable. You weren't clear about that, Olivia?

That's fine. It was just a bit difficult to figure out what you wanted with the vagueness.

Kate would make a more Moiraine-y outfit than those. Although I will say, Moiraine is cute.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what I cleared up! Do mean Katie? Since she was the one who mentioned the customizing.

*admits* I feel badly for making people who don't like dolls look at a whole bunch of them and try to pick things out.

Yes don't worry about it, like Marie and Tosh said. And I think I glazed over the rest of the first post after I saw the word "doll" so it was my bad for being confused. And if the hair/eyes/outfit is customizable, the only real difference I can see is the hue of the skin (though I guess that is also customizable?) or the shape of the face, both of which just depend on your image of Moiraine or what you think the comic represents. So people are bound to have different opinions on what looks the most like Rainecloud.

Yes, it's the doll itself that really counts. The wigs, eyes, makeup, and clothes are all something that can change. Those dolls in the pics can be gotten in white skin (Cairhienin pale  ) or Normal (very pale). There are tan ones too and deeper shades, but those wouldn't fit with Momo.
