We've seen her attracted to men, but not women. Sure, she's affectionate with other women, but so am I! And I'm so straight I snap in half. However, back a few years ago I was more confused about what I wanted in the sexuality part. I think it's very possible Moiraine was the same way. So, she was young, confused, had sex with Siuan, got out of the Tower and was allowed to explore her straight side.
And Travis and I (and Ajit!) are a minority. For the last three years this forum has been "Moiraine is gay!" and the only person who changed her mind was me

The Oath Rod was a failed experiment. While there were good intentions, ultimately they didn't pan out. It didn't prevent the bad guys from lying and it didn't prevent people from mistrusting an Aes Sedai. Sure, they might go "she can't lie" however there is always a "but" that follows.

I think they were attracted to each other alone, and that probably had more to do with personality than physical attributes. Not to mention environment.

You can't compare WoT to our world. If that was the case girls would be married off at 12, but clearly they have some boundaries.
My issue with Perrin is how upset he got when her parents suggested *gasp* this wasn't the right time for marriage. His possessiveness of her freaked me out.

Rand has never much liked being told a different option than the one he has planned. Even if he knows the other option is better. In book three he argued with Moiraine more for the sake of it, than because he actually disagreed. It wasn't until she was dead he went "o rly, maybe she was right"
Cad has seen the results of Moiraine's efforts and is trying a different approach. And honestly, she's 295 years old. Do you really think she would have that much patience for a 22 year old kid? Yes, he's the DR, but that doesn't mean his automatically smart and capable. It means he's someone else reborn.

I can't imagine a lesbian/bi woman being attracted to Thom. looks at Kate Who's sane at least.

My characters are like my kids, but at the same time, I have made characters based on what I would like in a best friend or something. So it isn't all that strange of an idea that someone would be attracted to their characters.

Well...what if, now this might sound crazy, we say she's a little bi but leaning heavily towards straight? After all, there are lots of pretty girls in WoT but she went for hairy ol' Thom! Only a sexually deprived straight woman would do that.
