Well, I wasn't so much being americanized as realizing Kate would know what I was talking about, and was too lazy to remember Jan likes to butt in!
As far as making any sort of connection between the Land of Madmen and South Africa...yeah, never done that before.

One of my favorite parts in the series was in book one when Thom was like "Some girl-child with a stick chased me out" (or something like that) and Eggy was all "That's our Wisdom..."
After reading The Letter I've decied Mo is about as hopeless with men as her niece.

Although she'll beat you if you don't eat your veggies or have "relations" in a hayloft before marriage. Of course, nowadays she might fight you to the hayloft with Lan by her side.

Honestly, I used to hate Nynaeve. Really, I did. But there comes a time when you can't let love blind ya. You say Egwene is like Moiraine...that to me is a worse compliment then saying Elayne is like Moiraine. Besides, Egghead isn't that different from Nynaeve.
Eggy raised two people up to the shawl because they were her friends, and then made sure to raise two others so no one would be the wiser. She's pigheaded, a know-it-all, and takes herself too seriously. Which, now that I think about it, does sound a bit like Moiraine.
Fact is, people usually hate those that remind them of themselves. Which fits Moiraine/Nynaeve to a tee.

No, she came home at age 16 when Tigraine disappeared. *nods*

Moiraine was jealous of Nynaeve too. Moiraine has a temper (they tried to train it out of her in the WT), and doesn't seem like she's going to give up the noblehood any day soon. I'd say, she's about 23% more mild than Nynaeve.
