  1. If a member of parliament was in danger which agency would been in charge of protecting them? Assuming anyone knows the answer to that.

An MP of which country? The UK? I dunno. In America I'm pretty sure the Secret Service would handle that, and they're now part of the Department of Homeland Security, so whatever that other country's equivalent of Secret Service would probably protect their MPs.

Yeah the UK. Their secret service has different departments, and I wasn't sure if it would be the MI6 or 5.

Its probably MI5 in the UK, although I could be wrong

That was my guess. We can be wrong together.

  2. Seems to me Dark Friends tend to reach the upper echelons of the Tower because they focus on making themselves useful to the Dark, and strive to position themselves in what they identify as the most useful positions, as opposed to any 'light' characters who seem to fall into important roles at the will of the pattern. For example, Mistress of the Novices (to influence and observe Novices and we know of 2 of these - Merean and Sheriam) and Keepers (to influence Tower politics, the Amyrlin, etc). Its probably easier not to be detected working in these roles - the Amyrlin is a far too public role to be pulling strings for the Dark One.

Well yeah, if you want to be serious and logical about their appointments. If you can apply that word to Elaida.

I wonder if Egwene will start drinking... or get kinky like Elaida. There may be hope for the other E.

I think every Amyrlin needs to get down and kinky now and again.

  3. I thought she explained that to Siuan. Same difference either way. XP

Elayne thinks of Moiraine's upbringing in the fourth book when the girls are all talking about Rand going to war. Elayne knows that Moiraine would have received the same lessons as she even if she wasn't heir to the throne.

  4. I'm wondering if maybe Lan was doing it for, I don't want to say comfort because it is Lan and all, but just a way to relieve stress? That is the only thing I can think of, well that and maybe he was just cleaning it and Rand thought he was sharping it but that sounds like a pretty weak excuse.

  5. I also noticed something a while ago.

In the beginning of DR when Rand first comes out, (I don't know where he was) he sees Lan sharpening his sword.

RJ said like a million times that the sword was Aes Sedai made, and no matter what you do, it does not need sharpening EVER.

Now, maybe he was just bored, but Lan isn't quite the type who would do something that he knows isn't necessary. xD

I just came across this! Although it is at the very end of TGH, not DR. :)

But that makes it worse because at the beginning of TGH Lan is the one who tells Rand those swords don't need sharping and it is a fool's errand. I can be more forgiving of cross-book mistakes but within the same novel?! :)

  6. You know, when RJ described this or that person as being "dark" in the books I thought he meant brown or black. But he meant it in the white "dark haired" way, I realized.

Except sometimes they really are black or brown which makes it really hard. It feels like some damn detective game trying to figure out what people look like.
