Hi-o! Grats on the kiddies.
In the past I have thrown some dramatic fits over closing MW, but that was limited to friends, and it has been a while since the last one! (I'm so ashamed...) I wonder what made you think we had closed? I suppose this drives home the need to finally make the front page more dynamic.

I scanned my copy for those pics.

http://www.startribune.com/opinion/letters/81595442.html:
Dear Pat Robertson,I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I'm all over that action. But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating.
I may be evil incarnate, but I'm no welcher. The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished. Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth -- glamour, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle.
Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake. Haven't you seen "Crossroads"? Or "Damn Yankees"? If I had a thing going with Haiti, there'd be lots of banks, skyscrapers, SUVs, exclusive night clubs, Botox -- that kind of thing. An 80 percent poverty rate is so not my style. Nothing against it -- I'm just saying: Not how I roll.
You're doing great work, Pat, and I don't want to clip your wings -- just, come on, you're making me look bad. And not the good kind of bad. Keep blaming God. That's working. But leave me out of it, please. Or we may need to renegotiate your own contract.
Best, Satan

Nik is only a year older than me!
Tosh shares his birthday with my mother. Is he my mommy?

Usually she either goes "You may call me..." or Lan does the talking. She couldn't say "My name is Alys" because that would be a lie, but letting people call you whatever is a loophole.

Or so my dad says. Funnily enough, I only felt
when on all those "donate now!" pages: they didn't even have any pictures up, so I can't explain why.
I did donate to three charities (UNICEF, Red Cross, and Habitat for Humanity). Not a lot, but it was what I could afford. I don't really donate to things often...I can't actually remember the last time unless you count dropping change into those Salvation Army tins during Xmas. But I've always had a soft spot for Haiti.

The moral of the story is that Moiraine is eager to be friends and that Elaine (Elayne!) is a fairweather friend.
-
It's been a really long time since I read it, but I figure all versions of a Moiraine heavy story are worth having.
-
Aaaah! Yes, that scene is different than the novella then! Moiiraine is busy thinking about being caught by Aes Sedai and gets all paranoid and thinks she sees someone so she gasps, and the guys make some comment about women and air up skirts and Moiraine does a glance backward and unlaces his pants. Something to that effect. I think he should have kept that scene.
-
I read it back in the day before NS the novel came out. I have always suspected RJ took out the Kari al'Thor reference because it seemed a little too...obvious, and that he changed his mind on how Moiraine ended up in the Two Rivers. In fact, I seem to recall him saying somewhere she lost that first book? Oh man, my WoT kung fu is not good today.
-
I recall that being in the novella but it might have been cut from the novel? I'm not sure (it might be in the novel...Olivia might know for sure) but that scene did happen.
Edit: Although it happened in a street, not indoors. And...did you ever read the novella?
Because if not, then it is in the novel as well! Somewhere. Don't make me be productive and fish for my book.
