In the last few years (in WoT's Earth) we've had several challenges to the three-thousand year old custom of channeling female + nonchanneling male = Warder bond.
We've seen chan. female + nonchan. female in Elayne/Birgitte

Chan. female + chan. male in the Asha'man/Aes Sedai bonds (willing and otherwise)

Chan. male + nonchan female in some of the Asha'man and their wives

And (though it's a secret to most) we now have 2 chan. females + 1 chan. male + 1 nonchan. female in Elayne/Aviendha/Rand/Min.

Given all this, my question is: When will Aes Sedai start bonding each other?

(We could also ask the parallel question of when will Asha'man bond each other, but I don't are about them.)
And when Aes Sedai do bond each other, why?
Will it be for pillowfriends to grow even closer, like Greens who marry their Warders or the Asha'man who bonded their wives? Will it be for battle purposes, like to better coordinate them while fighting in the Last Battle or to give the bonded sisters more stamina/endurance so they can fight longer? Or do you have other ideas?

I have to admit I haven't been keeping up with Game of Thrones, but this was a good little fic. I didn't know who the Margaery character was but a google image search certainly supports your "easy on the eyes" description! I could totally see her as a young Red sister. Also, I've missed your slashfics.
Moar WoT femslash, please!

Hah, loved the last panel.

Our Lady has made it to the final round of these silly cagematches. AND she is still the clear leader is the poll so far.

I have no idea who the guy she's fighting is, but if he tries to go up against Moiraine....

-
I don't usually like fan trailers but that one wasn't bad. It had a nice mix of clips and a good song.

-
The only redeeming quality about that piece is that Moiraine is the clear leader in the poll.

Poor Siuan, getting slapped. I think Moiraine is overreacting here, but I can see why a young, insecure, very temper-driven Moiraine might do something like that. Siuan's railing at Moiraine was pretty funny (though her being "pissed off" didn't seem like an appropriate term), and I chuckled at her sideways jab at Carlinya being such a failure at pranks.
Siuan isn't going to let Moiraine go, haha. Thanks for updating!

Yes, welcome back!
No need to say sorry so much, school/education is an important priority. I hope you aren't too stressed by school stuff and will someday start writing again! -
If wrinkly, liver-spotted naughty bits that have sluttily seen the inside of many gullible young lightskirts aren't a turn-off, I can't imagine snoring would be.

I think it meant his relationship with Moiraine. All that "she'd be a hot date if she weren't Aes Sedai" inner monologuing stuff he does. Also, doesn't he say to Mat something like Moiraine is a "fine woman, if she weren't Aes Sedai. Meddle with that sort and you get more than your fingers burned"? (I'm too lazy to go look up the TDR quote.)

Facepalm was my original reaction. But I have to agree with Marie - if it means a better book, I'm willing to wait.
Also, I love how they're still trying to milk that "Year of the Dragon" thing, pointing out that Jan 2013 is still technically the last month of it.

Happy Valentine's Day, Moiraine's World! Love to you all, especially if you're feeling down

I hope your friend wasn't harmed, Jan!

*hugs Jan*
A big blue happy birthday to you! I hope you had a day of relaxation and fun and cake and prezzies!

Ehhhh..... seems like a marketing thing from TOR. Capitalize on the buildup to the final book, copy/paste on the new covers (which I agree are much lovelier), add a basic titlecard, and tie-in with the completely unrelated fact that the year of AMoL's release just happens to also be the Chinese Year of the Dragon. I mean, what if it'd been, say, the Year of the Horse - would they put out a "special edition" AMoL cover featuring Bela?
...Actually, I would totally buy that.

WoT characters love torturing themselves with their bad memories. See Rand keeping that Seanchan spear as a scepter to remind him not to forget them (and no, he didn't just keep it as a reminder of igloo-loving with Avi xD), Lan forcing himself to look at his Malkieri ring every day to remind him of his oath against the Shadow, Moiraine keeping that stupid little ink bead to remind her to break rules, Amyrlin Siuan obsessively hoarding unimportant documents in secret before she's deposed, Nynaeve's scars on her palms after her Accepted test...
Besides, that bracelet can be seen as a trophy of the time she beat the Lanfear.
Just wiggle the bracelet in someone's face when they start doubting your awesomeness (not that Moiraine would ever be so unsubtle, of course
) And she didn't get to keep a trophy from Be'lal. -
Haha, those tightly clad ankles of mine. Always getting me into trouble. I'm often mistaken for some Mayener hussy.

Hello, Lanfeared! Welcome to Moiraine's World! We're a wacky bunch

And we like fanfic and fanarts of any pairing, so don't worry about whether it's okay to post here. Your Lan picture is very striking. I can believe that is totally how Nynaeve pictures her man.
My only concern is that those Shienarans might catch something nasty bathing in radioactive green water.
Nice job on the pic, and I'm looking forward to your fanfic! -
BELATED RESPONSE FOR GREAT JUSTICE
I got a few pairs of colorful knee socks (I'm one of the few people who actually enjoys getting socks for Xmas), a cool history book, a CD, a poster, a documentary set, a folding knife, and some boring-but-necessary stuff like an appointment planner.

I also got this little piggy bank in the shape of a kitty, which I have oh-so-tastefully decided to name my Pussy Fund.

This is the full-size sword I got. I am a terrible photographer so excuse the bad picture.
What did others get?

-
I promised Jan a picture of the rainbow-striped Hello Kitty toe socks I got for Christmas.
Excuse my terrible camera.
-
I'll show you when I get my camera back, which should be, uh, Monday. What did you get, Marie?
(Other than a new raep-tastic avatar) -
Happy New Year indeed! I hope 2012 is a year of fulfillment and happiness and not-dying for all of you!
Not to mention we'll be seeing our favorite book series wrap up for good before the year is out. *wipes tear* End of an era, my friends. Okay, back to my cold meds I go.

AMoL Prologue Excerpt
in The Books
Posted
A short excerpt from AMoL's prologue is up on TOR. Read it here: http://www.tor.com/stories/2012/04/a-memory-of-light-prologue-excerpt
Unfortunately it's from a PoV of no one we've seen before, just some random guy fighting for one of the people who still oppose Elayne's rise to the throne. (The Andoran throne, mind you; I know there are some on this forum who shall not be named who still contest her rise to the Cairhienin throne.)
It wasn't anything spectacular, but I wasn't upset by it or anything. It's pretty predictable for them to give a nonsatisfying first preview of AMoL, to make us want more. I suppose (like with the previous books) as we move closer to the release date we'll get more excerpts, hopefully from characters we give a crap about.
I didn't really buy that that guy's family would have kept the tradition of making stone tools. But, I guess from a thematic, aesthetic perspective it was kinda moving, showing how humanity has in some ways been reduced back to our most primitive days due to the Dark One's influence, yet we're still determined to fight on despite what feeble weapons we have.
It also gave us more on the already-established theme of the Dragon as the breaker of bonds, by showing just how different the world after the Last Battle will have to be, with new lords and rulers, new vassals, new modes of government, even new channeling regimes have to be reformulated.
What are your thoughts on the excerpt, MW?
