So the first time I read the ToG sequence and we see Moiraine floating there I picture her in the air vertically (in a very anime kind of way) but the second read through I saw her as being horizontal. I'm not sure which I prefer.

 

 

And yes I have been thinking of this since Nov 2nd.

Floating sorta makes it seem as if in water. Maybe she was even bobbing up and down.

well... let's pretend gravity works normally there, even though we don't know that it works normally there. When they're on the ground it does, so let's say that it always does, except they can make her float somehow.

 

Now stand up and see if you can rest your hands on your stomach without using your muscles to hold them up. I can't, and I'm not as skinny as Moiraine.

 

Therefore she's horizontal. But if they can make her float they can make her hands rest on her stomach if she's vertical, so we're back to not knowing

To be honest, during those scenes I paid more attention to details of her undress rather than the pose she was in.

I actually had trouble picturing this scene as well. Horizontal would explain the hands resting on her stomach, and would be easier for Thom to grab hold of her, but vertical would be more visually dramatic.

I pictured her vertical until the part about how her arms were resting. Then I pictured her semi-horizontal with her legs dangling a little.
