Most certainly. I'd even do it for non-profit. But I don't have the resources or the energy to compete with the daycare I live across the street from! I love small kids. I scare most of my friends when I tell them I intend to have six children.

Ba-ba is something my youngest sister always called me... even after she found out it was Turkish for "father".... She tried calling me Ba, but I... em, didn't take kindly to that one....

eek! children scare me! i can deal with my own cousins, but that's about as far as i go... and six?! you're very brave, sivart.

as for nicknames... everything my parents call me is the same as they did when i was about 4... and my friends are either too lazy to call me carla, or think that they should change it because it makes it more "interesting"... and when i meet people for the first time they always call me carly or clara, so i answer to pretty much anything now!!

It's 'father' in many languages, especially Indian languages and Persian-based ones. I call my dad Baba!

As for nicknames... what I get called at home translates literally into 'little girl' (Ajit will figure that out!). I guess it must've been something I got called as a kid and it stuck! Otherwise, I get called PD by friends (or lately, Jan!)

I got Grim because of a photograph. *sighs* I wasn't smiling and looked like a convict, so my mother said.

Oooh...Dfoglam and Biffle were because of my inability to pronounce anything in Irish class. Those are my two most famous mispronunciations. Nothing worse than harassment by a teacher to fuel nicknames.

It's funny how a nickname can become part of a person, and even something they are known as as a little child can stick for the rest of their life. My sister's nickname has always been Bean, because she was very tiny when born and would curl up like a little kidney bean.

I've been called many nicknames for Katherine, and also Scarlett and Red when I was a teen. In college they called me after a tv show character, and when I used to rp as a teenager friends would call me my characters names. *shrug* ;) I don't have any interesting nicknames though. :P
