Moiraine and Siuan were only together because they were stuck in a giant white tower with only each other for physical intimacy. They experimented, enjoyed it, but all the while still clearly pined for men. The later novels confirm they do indeed like the male version of the species. It is for this reason I am in favor of Moiraine/Thom and Siuan/Bryne, because those are the pairings based on what the characters want, and not simply the sexual fantasy of the readers, e.g. Moiraine/Siuan.

 

Also, based on the character development of Thom in KoD, I do think Moiraine/Thom is a wonderful love story; albeit one only they understand! Even so, he seems to really care for her, whereas Siuan has "moved on"; not only from the pillow friendship, but from Moiraine as well. After all, we never see any sign of morning from Siuan, but do see her getting quite upset over the lack of progress between her and Bryne. That is not the case with Thom, just the opposite in fact.
