The Dena Effect

Recommended Posts

But it was. He wouldn't marry Dena because of his past and the fact that people wanted to kill him.

It's Morgase that makes me wonder. Meaning, he slapped Elayne for speaking ill of her...what will he do if Moiraine says something about "those foregaters"? Or even Morgase for that matter.

I think that some men would dislike a submissive woman. Some would like it yes, but not all. Thom might like a powerful woman. Although, Moiraine seems to be hiding a submissive side.

But that's besides the point! The point is Dena and how she is bad for Momo.

Maybe so, but they were too many of them who wanted to do that. After TG none of them would be alive.

What I mean to say is that he never let morgase or her memory intrude in his relationship with dena. When he will be with Mo, he will not think of any of his previous lovers. He would have found 'the perfect one'.

And I believe both will survive.

Well... Moiraine seemed fairly amused at least with Thom's stories/jokes/music, if I remember the Shadow's Rising correctly.

I think it was his intellect. :P

I think it's a bit idealistic to think the other lovers won't enter his mind at all, but that doesn't mean it has to be negitive.

I do think Moiraine is perfect for him because...they're both so weird.

I am here. To air my opinion.

Right, well, Dena doesn't haunt Thom because Thom was all lovey over Moiraine before he met the girl and besides...its a bit like marrying again after being widowed.

Its not like he's been mentioning her continually, so I would say Dena (the girl as well as her storyline) is dead. Unlike Moiraine, who haunted Thom, all his 'oooh, a dead woman wrote me a letter, ooooh I left her to die, ooooh'.

I just like using a lot of 'ooohs'.

I didn't want to say it, but now I shall: I thought he was with Dena because he wanted Momo but wouldn't admit it to himself.

So...I guess what I'm saying is Dena isn't a problem, but Moiraine was a problem for Dena.

As far as getting married after being widowed...the second wives usually have to either compete with the memory of the first one, or the kids want to kill their stepmother.

But Thom didn't have any kiddies with Dena and I'd like to see some kiddies try to kill Momo. Oh, the hilarity that would insure!

Dena was his Momo substitute and we all have girlfriends/boyfriends before we find 'the one'. And lets be honest. Thom didn't think he had a chance with pretty little Momo. As Momo is pretty where Thom resembles an old boot.

But the letter! The letter made him go all gooey and completely forget about poor, dead Dena.

Moiraine was alive and desperate!
