And in response to Marie's suggestion, when Egwene was in the rings she could still see things that were real that they didn't know.

For example: 13 myrdraal + 13 Black Ajah can turn someone to the Dark. Egwene was threatened with that, and when she comes out she asks Sheriam if it could really happen. Sheriam says that few actually know the truth, that it IS possible. And what about that gentling ceremony? She knew the words for that, though I'm sure Egwene has never attended something like that.

 

I'm thinking that the Portal Stone did the same sort of thing; intertwined different worlds for a brief while, so they saw what was real and COULD have happened.

 

As for the agelessness of Egwene's keeper even after she is stilled; maybe that's another little mistake, or something he hadn't perfected that early in the series.

Yes, she saw some real things. As did Rand We'll have to agree to disagree because I doubt I'll ever see that Accepted test as anything but a test unless RJ says otherwise.

 

Besides, I've always thought what they saw during that Portal Stone thing was all the things that could happen (Rand also saw himself going crazy and dying whilst married to Egghead).

 

I don't think it was a mistake or oversight, nor do I think the same thing of Egwene and the Accepted test and seeing her Keeper as ageless.

Im not sure about what the test is, the odd thing I always found was in Nynaeve's when there was a sharina sedai, and that was long before Sharina became a novice, so maybe there are shadows of the truth in each test

Yes, maybe each test pulls in elements of the if worlds as well as creates happenings catered around the minds of the women in there.

That sounds about right, I'v always wondered though if a channeler's abilities (like foretelling) could affect how accurate the future in the test is

That's interesting. It's quite possible that it could happen that way.

 

Nyn has that slight bit of Fortelling that's like weather sense.

Yes... RJ didn't do much with that later, though. It was her weather sense, only she started having it about people and other events more than the weather.

I was never clear exactly what events she was supposed to be sensing were, though

No, it didn't seem to be very clear. It was like she could either sense immediate bad happenings, or was just sensing the Last Battle coming or some such thing. Maybe Olivia knows?

It wasn't clear. Sometimes "a storm is coming" referred to the Seanchan (like when they were in Ebou Dar just before the bugheads came), or just bad happenings like wars or battles. Nynaeve's talent is far from specific though, and I personally liked it more when it referred to weather.

I remembered another little quirk. In NS, chapter An Answer Moiraine is chatting with the Aesdaishar Palace nobles and they are talking about music. Moiraine thinks "She cared little for music and less for whoever played the instruments." How ironic that the man she is going to fall in love with is a musician.
