I have never been in love with Lan, and to be quite frank he is very ugly. I suppose you are curious about my slight "jealousy" in regards to Nynaeve? Well that was more of a possessive feeling: Lan had been my Warder, my companion, for twenty years. Once Nynaeve entered the picture his loyalty to me faltered.

 

Also, she annoyed me.

The bed I sleep in now has enough room for Thom and I to sleep comfortably. If we both slept on the edges there would be enough room between for maybe two others, if those others were Cairhienin sized children or females. Does that answer you?

Certainly not. To admit some amount of annoyance is not the same as wishing her ill. The young woman has amazing potential as an Aes Sedai.

 

It is true that Lan would have fought to the death for me even after discovering Nynaeve. However, can we truly blame a man whose heart is no longer his own if that heart calls to him to follow another? In that way he was slipping from me.

 

If you think, Ajit, that Lan's honour should remain unquestioned you are correct.
