Does anyone else still get emotional about Moiraine's big scene? I've just finished rereading that chapter - this is the fifth time reading the book- and I had to put it down to sniffle balefully. I think I just needed some comfort. She's so brave, poor dearie.

 

I noticed another thing too. She tells Rand twice in person, and once in the letter that he will do well. She seems proud of him, but I wonder if she'd be proud with the way he's acted in later books.

Well, everytime I reread that scene I think, "What if she is dead?!" and get myself all depressed. And then I get angry at Rand, because it's all his fault!

 

I'm not sure Moiraine would be proud of how Rand is acting now, but it's hard to say. Maybe when she comes back he'll snap out of loser-mode.

Hmm. I hope so. At first I felt pretty patient with him considering how young he is and all of his troubles and so forth, but my patience is waning.

 

It would be quite a mean thing for RJ to do not to bring her back. It would be upsetting. I worry about that too, at times.

When I read it, I was so upset, I had a cow at the person who gave me the book (as a birthday present, can you imagine?)!! Then I demanded to know if Lan dies too. If he had, I truly would not have read another page!

 

But I really think Moiraine has to come back (please, god, if you're there; if not, RJ, pleeeaaaasssseee). For one, Min saw a viewing about Rand not succeeding without Moiraine. She is never wrong.

Erm, I was taking a few liberties with Min's viewing!!

 

But which other "significant" female character is dead? I can't seem to recall another one. That said, I *am* a bit one-track about Moiraine, so I may well have missed something.

The quote's probably about Moiraine, but Morgause is another female character that they think is dead. It's possible that's who it's about. But Thom's got to fufill Egwene's dream about Moiraine's kesiera, so that's another bit of proof she'll come back.

 

How can she not come back? The woman is unstoppable. Short people generally are that.

 

Behind Rand, isn't she the one with the most forsaken kills? She certainly went up against a ton of them even if she didn't defeat them (Also, I bet she probably killed her fair share of Black Ajah and DFs in her years of searching). If she comes back more powerful (or knowledgeable) she can go against the mean ol' women Forsaken since Rand is a sis about killing them.

Until Moiraine comes back, I'll never be 100% sure that viewing is about her. But we do know for sure Min's had viewings of her that have yet to pass. So she has to come back.

 

Besides, she still needs to marry Thom, have cute babies, and adopt a kitty.
