Yes another useless thread from Marie! Anyway, I was sitting in the car the other day and my dad was talking about that lead singer from Nickelback and how he sounded like a "man's man" and I thought of Lan. And then I thought to myself, "Self, what would Thom sound like?"

So yes. That is the question: Which modern (I say modern because actual media links would be fabulous) do you think Thom's signing voice is akin to?

*jumps all over this thread* Thommy.

He's got to have range. The man with the prettiest singing voice I can think of is Jeff Buckley (who I don't really like the music of except for Hallelujah.. not my style!). However, I think Thom could get even more gritty and deep if he wanted to. The way RJ has him being able to sing in multiple styles just makes it seem like gleemen are used to having a wide range in order to appeal to different types of crowds... plus a court bard probably has to have their own style too and Thom was that. There aren't a lot of female gleemen, so sounding "pretty" like Jeff Buckley does not seem like it would be too odd.

His voice resonates very well and he can project. A deeper voice would be more arresting to the audience and he seems to be able to do that since he's basically an oral storyteller too! *will have to think on who is a good example*

I loves teh musicians.

I'm confused why two think of him! I'm not a Dylan fanatic but I do love his songs.. however, he can't really sing! Is it more his style? *claps hands over mouth and runs away* :P

Barry White.. oh I don't seriously think he would sound like Thom but it does make me giggle. He was this "looooove" singer in the seventies. His music is supposed to be like sex music. Guys still sometimes like to play it to get girls in the mood. :DListen to a couple of these.

Dylan isn't a singer if we are talking about something akin to a gleeman. Thom is more like an opera tenor, which, I can't imagine anyone who listens to high music thinking Dylan is anywhere close to sounding.
