I'm now halfway through Vol.5. Loving the part where Lord Bryne catches up to Siuan. And I don't know about the rest of you, but yes, I usually do stay up this late.

 

(Mind has tottaly blanked...maybe it is a tad too late.)

 

[Minutes later I remembered] what anime do you watch Vertex? And dubs or subs? I prefer subs. Only one anime I liked in dub.

 

Curious question...I've noticed several screenshot's posted of various conversations between all of you using a certain IMing program...is this "Skype"? o.O

The im program would be gtalk... mostly anyway, there might be other older conversations using other im programs.

 

As to anime, well, I'm don't really mind what genre or setting it is. I'm no fan of angst or sad endings... or too random comedy. I prefer plots spanning several episodes but not if they are just full with fighting. In many shows a fight can go on for 10+ episodes and I don't like that lots either.

 

I actually prefer dubs because then I don't have to keep my eyes on the screen... But I don't mind subs at all and they are mmuch more informative.

 

As for favorits... I'm not sure... I liked these though.

But I've watched and enjoyed many more! I couldn't tell you though or they'll pick on me! Especially not the ones Marie says are for little Japanese girls. But she likes Card Captor Sakura so I guess I could admit to enjoying CLAMP stuff.

I typically don't either, I'll give most a try. Haha, now the random comedy, or just lots of comedy, I love that now. I see though, your into things that have substance...or I mean just arn't mindless. Ah, Something like Naruto or Bleach [for long fighting].

 

Yeah that can be a bother at times, keeping your eyes on the words. The problem I have with dubs is you only get 15min of show. As for subs you get 22min. And for some reason...the voices just match in my head. Then again though, one of my fav. animes is a dub so. (Gundam Seed).

 

FMP is a good one =]. Have you watched #2 or FUMOFFU? Hoping they'll make another one... Sousuke needs to kiss Chidori .

I've heard Elfen Lied is really good, I've been meaning to watch it.

Aw harsh. I watched Card Captors...when I was younger. CLAMP I've heard of that too...still so many animes I need to watch.

Lol...well your not alone =]. As for "girlish" animes...I like Shakugan No Shana, Gunslinger Girl, Ghost Hunt, and blood+. I know it's girly, but for some reason I just like them.

Gundam Seed/Gundam 00.

 

And my all time fav. Death Note .

 

Along with many others...I enjoy lots of battles, so long as it's not senseless. And I prefer it with swords. I also enjoy though some animes with a bit of romance in them. Or have great depth of emotion.

I once saw some random imbecile say that he was deep because he watched Elfen Lied. Now I haven't watched it but Satans uncle in a pickle jar, its a god damned anime! The utter idiocy of that statement and that person made me want to eat my own ears.

Niklas liked Elfen Lied because he got it into his head that if ever Homo sapiens sapiens branch off, the new specie is probably likely to dislike us. Well, not Niklas, obviously. I figure it was the same for us... of all mamals out there, our ancestors tends to be ugliest. Again, not mine, obviously.

 

 

I like the Naruto characters but the endless fights against all odds gets a bit boring. Actually, I think characters benefits from long running animes. I like the characters from Bleach and One Piece too, anyway.

 

Oh I liked Scrapped Princess too and Fumoffu. The comedy elements in Full Metal Panic are very fun q-:

 

I somewhat bounced on death note, I just watched the first few eppisodes but it seemed so dark and gloomy. And without interesting characters.

 

I haven't seen Gundam 00 yet and not Fate Stay Night or Shingetsutan Tsukihime either. (Don't gasp Marie! There is anime I have NOT seen!)

 

Haibane Renmei is pretty unique... it is fantasy without fighting! The creator was involved with Serial Experiments Lain so it is a bit like that but much much brighter and not as obscure.

Saying you are deep seems kinda shallow. Only a selected few can get away with it... modesty prevents me from going on. I think mostly you are right though, almost all anime is like WoT; without substance. Blasphemy, Niklas enjoys. But anime/manga(why can't they just be called comics?) is also a cheap medium with a broad audience so I imagine controversial stuff only a few likes still pays off.

The Death Note anime I hear isn't as good as the manga. Which I have read.

 

You could just call them cartoons/comics, but some people get all "offended" to be reminded that is what they are enjoying.

I watched Death Note and loved it. Yes it is very dark & gloomy. I guess there weren't any "interesting" characters...You we're either a "L" fan or "Kira" fan. (Kira...of course). What I loved about it though was the brilliance of the characters. The show was extremely well written. Where after something happened you'd be going "I would have never though of that!". *Shrug* Not everything is for everyone.

I don't like using the word deep since I think it is without meaning but it was the word used in the comment I was referring to.

 

But what is one referring to when you say you are deep anyway? Are you saying you're wise and intelligent? Or is it about emotional depth, or knowledge and insight?

 

Whatever you are referring to, using it in the context of enjoying entertainment just cheapens the whole thing by turning it into a pissing contest. Who likes the "best" entertainment and who gets most pleasure out of whatever book/movie/manga people might be reading/watching.

Vertex never keeps anime one watched... but I sorta regret it about Full Metal Panic. Comedy is so clever because it doesn't biuld on plot twists and surprises.

Being deep is just the opposite of being shallow. Those who hate shallow people will call themselves deep just to separate themselves from them. At least it's something like that. The ones who really aren't shallow don't care to call themselves anything.
