The 12th books

WoT Marketing boys and girls have decided to split book 12 into three. They will all be book twelve, but in three parts. The first, to be released this November, is called "The Gathering Storm". The preliminary names for the last two are "Shifting Winds" and "Tarmon’Gaidon". When the three of them have been released, and sold all they can, they intend to bundle them up in one last book, A memory of Light.

 

The potential gain of selling four books instead of one could make stories four times as profitable. If this proves successful, we can expect more books to use this release form. Eventually books could be released page by page. Computers may also provide techniques allowing books to be released word by word, or even letter by letter.

 

To promote the new books, the WoT people are arranging a JordanCon. Entrance is likely to cost a fortune and might prove as profitable as their new marketing strategy.

 

If fans are stupid enough to buy all this remains to be seen.

So I read Harriet's interview there and this makes sense:

 

I am the maniac about whether the characters read like the PEOPLE they are. And line editing.

 

As far as I remember she wasn't as much a part of the editing after the first several books... and then maybe was again later I don't know. Anyway, after book six or so and up to KOD did seem like they could have used more editing.

How I feel about this depends on whether or not Moiraine is in that first book. If she is OH MY GOD HAPPY. If not, I ain't spending money on the hardcover.
