[Split] A Memory of Light To Be Three Books

SO hey, hi everyone. Been busy trying to disengage the pause button on my life..... thank you recession.

 

Anywho, so Memory of Light is gonna be split into three books, to be released over the next two years. The first, The Gathering Storm is due for Nov of this year (WoWho!)

 

What do others think on this? For my part, I'm of two minds. I LOVE we get three more volumes (means they're not going to be rushed and watered down, I hope)

 

Granted it'd be nice to just get the damn thing on with already. In the end we still get our story as close as we can.

 

Thoughts? Thoughts? Anyone?

Honestly I would have liked just the one, I get the feeling that this three books thing is just a way of making more money

I finally remembered to check wotmania.com again. The cover art has been announced on Brandon Sanderson's blog.

 

I usually detest the covers, but this isn't too bad.

 

The UK cover art is flashier, but I normally have to settle with the US paper backs because they are cheaper and have thinner pages so they don't take up as much space.

I can't stand that cover, so I think I'll have to buckle down and import the UK version. My god. WoT has some pretty bad covers, but this one is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. My god. My god...

But if all three volumes are split in half in Sweden, it means lots of moderately nice cover art They're some sort of international editions, I think.

Where does this art come from btw? I know Luis Royo did the covers of the two volumes of EotW, but the rest I have no idea. Royo pawns Sweet any day!

All US books have art done by Sweet, except the young adult editions which were done by Charles Keegan. I feel so abused.

 

LoC is bad, but I bought it when I was 15 and had no shame. I'm so used to it now I don't even think about it, but I would be very embarrassed to have that Gathering Storm with me in the breakroom at work.

 

Why can't I live in Europe?! *shakes fist*

I must admit that if I did get stuck with US covers I might not have started the series at all. I have a habit of judging books by the cover

 

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that would have been a bad thing

man i do not like that cover at ALL. they always remind me of either the eighties or smut novels. i like the UK lots.
