Harry Potter is coming to Chicago!

Recommended Posts

I am so thrilled! The Science and Industry Museum here in Chicago has a Harry Potter exhibit for the summer! *tickled pink* Are any of you guys Potter goons in addition to WOT goons? :mwahaha:

Now, I have to go hunt some of my fellow Harry-nerd friends to go with me.

You know there's something about the Potter series that I found more imaginative then WOT. WOT is more creative and complex, but there's something about the experience of reading Potter that eclipses WOT for me in a whimsical sort of way.

However, I will say that I love the characters in WOT. THey are much more developed than the Potter characters. I find that my attachment to the WOT series is really about the people even more than the plot.

I think I read up to about book three back when they came out. They were fun enough, but the plot was always pretty predictable and I don't think most of it really was all that imaginative if you look at it hard enough. There were alot of rehashed clich

I guess by imaginative what I mean is the way she described the world, it really made me feel like a part of it. It had a whimsical quality. BUt youre right that's not as creative as WOT in terms of the plot. It was definitely simpler.

No, I wouldn't use the word brilliant to describe them. JK Rowling is definitely not a literary Einstein. But somehow she made a book series people just get really attached to. (me being one :P )

I think it was a grand childrens series, and I will always have a soft spot for it because it got kids to read.

The only book of the series that stayed with me is the last one, and not for good reasons.

Yes, the fact that they got children reading is wonderful. :P My sister was younger when she started reading them and she still loves them. I read the books, and I like that they get people to engage in their imaginations.
