TGS Chapter 2!

Recommended Posts

My word...so if you are registered on Tor.com you can access the audio for chapter two.

I have been saying Egwene wrong. And a couple others. :V

Like the prolouge it seemed to flow much better that the first chapter. I'm hoping chapter one was a fluke, but I guess we'll see.

I do like crazy-ass Elaida.

Might as well release the whole book at the rate they're going!

*jumps up and down*

I have a new theory!! I think Mesaana is that Aes Sedai who was stripped of her shawl. Its a hunch, but I wont let go of the fact that she appeared in a plain white dress...

Poor crazy-ass Elaida. :D My heart bleeds for her, really it does! It was almost painful to listen to, she's so off her rocker. I would *love* to know how she ended up so mad...like she was stern (as Eqwene right points out) but not tyranical. I definately think Elaida is descending into mad territory, proper mad-like-Rand territory as well not delightful eccentricity.

Poor Meidani, too. It doesn't look like I'm going to get the sexy times I wanted.

I do like Egwene in this chapter. She's showing remarkable poise and her mentality is quite right for the Amyrlin Seat. What I don't like is the implication it is because of her training with the Aiel she manages to achieve said poise and every other Aes Sedai in the tower is running around terrified/acting crazy because they don't have the training.

It sounded more like RJ than Sanderson this time, I think. But perhaps it was because I was listening to it rather than reading it just didn't...I don't know...Elaida seemed too mad? Some of her little turns of phrases made me wince - like when she said to Meidani about being stripped of the shawl. That didn't seem like the seductive Elaida we seen in KoD.

LOVED how Elaida couldn't manage to hear the Meidani and Egwene talking when she was just stood at the door. I mean really?!

And the phrase "Egwene went to the exit". Ugh. RJ has never used the word 'exit', I'm pretty sure.

Warming to Silviana. Obviously given her reading 'kindling of the flame' (lol at that title) and her warning Egwene "I can't refuse to beat you" she's been converted, pretty soundly.

Yeah, I've been saying/thinking things wrong. Like I say 'ale' not 'isle' for 'Aiel'.

I was SCARED when I clicked on play! These teasers are killing me xD Hmm, perhaps not.

I think it sounded a lot like RJ too, but I agree that it could very well look a lot different as text. It probably depends on how finished the notes were. :D If it's already done before, I doubt Sanderson will edit it to fit HIS writing style.

Oh my god, that whole passage where they are whispering I was like "can't Elaida hear them? Or at least see them as she is walking back?!" I mean come on! Especially considering how long of a conversation it really was. Elaida really would be off her rocker to not notice that.

I say Aiel correctly nowadays, although I used to say it differently. The names have much better...flow when said correctly when compared to my attempts at imagining how they should sound. The exception being Egwene. But I don't think that name could sound anything less than awkward no matter how you say it.

Now that you mention it, yes, I don't like how it seems to be drilled consistently throughout the series and now this chapter how Aes Sedai would be better Aes Sedai if they had Aiel training.

I hope Egwene is told/figures out right quick about the ferrets being bounded by the Oath Rod to the BA Hunters. I don't really want that plotline being dragged out at this point in the series a-la Morgase in hiding storyline.

Hmm, I haven't read either ch. 1 or 2, but...

I think Mesaana is that Aes Sedai who was stripped of her shawl.

Didn't that sister run away in LoC and hasn't been seen since? Shemerin? :D

Poor crazy-ass Elaida. I would *love* to know how she ended up so mad...like she was stern (as Eqwene right points out) but not tyranical.

I think it was Fain's influence in TFoH that ordered the U-Haul for her move to crazy-land. And I lament with you about the loss of our prospects for Elaida on Meidani action! :D

Hmm it seemed to me that Elaida was screaming down the servants coridor and that's why she didn't hear or notice that Egwene was speaking to Meidani while they cleaned up the soup.

I liked towards the end when Egwene went to see Silviana, Silviana says "... well the amyrlin seat has spoken..." and Egwene responds with "Yes, I have."

That's pretty darn cheeky. And I agree, it definitely seems like Silviana is an Egwene convert now... how this plays out is going to be fascinating. I actually enjoyed Egwene in this chapter... and her chapter in Knife of Dreams. :D

I didn't think Fain had that type of power? The only way he could do that would be if he stabbed her with the dagger, and if he had surely we would have known about that.

You were right about Shemerin, though. Damnit to hell with that. Still musing about the prospects of her being a Novice, though.

I hope Egwene is told/figures out right quick about the ferrets being bounded by the Oath Rod to the BA Hunters. I don't really want that plotline being dragged out at this point in the series a-la Morgase in hiding storyline.

Agreed tenfold. Though I would hope Sanderson is snappier than RJ. I would also like Meidani to describe the physical aspect of her relationship with Elaida, but, alas, thats never going to happen.

Also another thought...LOVE how Egwene gets so crazy-angry about Elaida wanting an oath of obedience, when she'd already made some of the Salidar rebels swear one to her!

I liked towards the end when Egwene went to see Silviana, Silviana says "... well the amyrlin seat has spoken..." and Egwene responds with "Yes, I have."

One of the advantages to having it read aloud...that was delivered very well.

I do not like how that woman does Elaida's voice. Its just so...nasal.

And he got Meidani's hair wrong :D She's a blonde and he says she's a brunette. Distressing.

Maybe the table was in between Elaida and the other two. I think it was because Elaida was screaming down the hallway too, although how could she have been screaming that whole time while Egwene and Meidani were having their conversation? Think how nutto that would seem! Amyrlins screeching down the hall for minutes...

I like Egwene in this chapter, but the Aiel thing bugs me too. The Aiel have been through a lot to survive in the Waste, but it still is making Aes Sedai seem less then they really should be for all of their training.

Egwene was cheeky at the end. :D I've been saying her name like, "Egg-ween" all of this time. I've said Aiel correctly but not Tar Valon. I say "oohn" instead of "an" at the very end. It does flow better saying it the correct way.

If all the audio books are like that then I might get them later on. Niklas has listened to them, I think?

And Crazy Elaida was Crazy. Silviana and Meidani are on Egwene's side now... Silviana moreso.

Yesyes, I never read the books. Just listened to them...but not because I can't read, because I can. I liked the audio versions though. They were clever with both a boy and a girl voice actor.

I am glad to know you liked them! I probably will buy them later. It's good they have two actors doing them. The books are so long.

I wonder why Alviarin was delayed. BA activity?
