  1. What if the father turns out to be Elaida?

    What I liked:

    Cadsuane smackdown

    Rescue of Rand maybe soon

Cadsuane admits Rand is a friend~ although it destroys my mind to think about that one too hard!

Romanda~ she sure loves her tea

    Nynaeve thinking out loud

Thom and Nyn spend more time becoming friends

Thom got slapped. I don't feel a lot better about Elayne in the books but I didn't feel bad for Thom in camwalt either.

    I feel bad for Nynaeve

    Moiraine eats everything in sight

    Two chickens and lamb!

She has the appetite of her hubby

    Tamra is tall

  2.

you misunderstand me! that's so not what i meant! i dont think Colaevere deserved to kill herself! (on a personal level i am deeply opposed to suicide) i was making a joke when I said "Can a person not deserve something they do to themselves?" or whatever it was I said because it just seems ironic that they dont deserve it yet they did it to themselves bc normally when you think of someone getting something they dont deserve, is something another person inflicted on them.

my only point is that i think Rand should apply the law equally between men and women. i was sad for her when she hung/choked herself to death. however it does speak loudly of her character which is basically her obsession with her status.

    where's my cookie, cookie? :D

edit: those pants always troubled me! they were so NOT divided riding skirts. and why do people always draw her with her hair up when so many times its mentioned that she always wears it down (so much hotter). psh.

I got what you meant. And you're still saying the same thing. I just disagree! It seems like you misunderstand me but here is a cookie because I stole too many and have extra. :?

And I don't know about you but I argued. I'm heartbroken you didn't realize!

Tosh, if it's not it should be.

  3. We can argue about whether his law about treason was good or bad but that is not my point. My point is that if a person is given the death penalty and they kill themselves that doesn't mean they deserved their death because by law they were to die, as you suggested. And if you can follow that I'll give you a cookie! I'm not sure I can!

These threads of discussion always get ground to a halt by arguments. :D It makes me sad but I stubbornly post anyway. *argumentative*

Moiraine sure loves to make choices! Why'd she choose those neon blue stirrup pants on the cover of NS, that's what I'd like to know. :?

  4. can you ever not deserve something you do to yourself?:?

Absolutely. It happens all the time. That's why they call them suicide victims, not perpetrators.

I don't believe in something being right just because it is a law. There are lots of bad laws. Because someone is sentenced to death in a lawful court that does by any means make it just or correct. The person is not automatically deserving of death. To assume that a law is automatically correct is to assume that lawmakers are by their nature infallible. Rand's the hero and yet he's not perfect.

I wasn't really debating the Forsaken thing. I was just saying what was going on with the characters in the books and with some readers.

  5. Romanda! Cadsuane!

Poor Rand. I bet he is sorry his bottomcheeks are so hairless. Everyone always wants to take a peek at them.

Romanda was giddy. I am giddy that there was Romanda. *o*

  6. Oh God yes. But what bothered me more about that whole situation was Nynaeve's bizarre internal explanation for Elayne's behavior! I wasn't sure whether to laugh or gag when Nyn started on about young women flirting with their fathers to compete with their mothers, like some gender-flipped Oedipal complex. Wtf was RJ thinking?:?

He was thinking of Electra. Which is a crock of crap.

  7. Yes, I don't know if my finding the whole thing to be out of character for Thom is me just wanting to separate that whole part out of his character because I like the rest or if it really is OOC for him but reading parts where they are together creeps me out sometimes.

Elayne also weirds me out when she goes creepily incestuous about some characters. I'm thinking of her thing with Avi after they were first-sisters and her preoccupation with Thom and Gawyn. And not being bothered by being almost related to Rand.

Otherwise, she's ok. *grudgingly admits* She's fun to read when it's her, Nyn, and Birgitte together.

  8. I read it the same way. :ddd:

It'd be nice to have a scene in the books with lesbian characters. Lesbian more than bi just because I don't know if RJ or Sanderson would write bi characters authentically. RJ didn't do a fantastic job so far with it. :sheep:

The reason I do not like Siuan/Mo is just because of the way Siuan's been acting. If she and Moiraine could be closer but still their more mature selves I'd be really happy.

I like Thom's character (except for some really problematic parts RJ wrote in there) though. A musician and Moiraine makes me happy. I wish Thom were a girl bard sometimes but I have learned to love the manness.

  9. Yes, what she got is what happened to her. I wasn't talking about what she didn't end up getting, which was banishment. She didn't deserve to die.

Nynaeve wondered about what to do with Moggy. Rand's been unsure about Lanfear and not just because she's a woman. It's that, plus the fact that she has stood and had friendly conversations with him. He's kept Asmo as his teacher, and Moiraine saw why he needed to have him around. They've got Semi now and didn't immediately kill her. If the characters can be somewhat accepting of the most evil of evil murderers than it's not wrong to cut the minor villains some slack.

I think it's just that we all tend to not know what to do with uber-evil people that do the worst of crimes. Some criminals are so horrible that the laws don't seem adequate enough. Still, it's not hypocritical to find the Forsaken somewhat redeemable as readers of the books. It just makes us compassionate or logical. It's the same with the little bad guys.

  10.

You know, whats the worst that could happen? If I absolutely can't avoid ramming something in a fit of delirium, I'll aim for something cheap.

EDIT: Oh my god. MJ's father is the single most prune-like man I have ever seen. :ddd:

I vote Joe Jackson's car if it magically appears in the water. Even though I doubt it is cheap.

  11. I'm curious, though, Kaitlin. You don't think she deserved to be punished for the several murders she ordered (IIRC, two lords and one of her maids)?

I'm curious as well. Wasn't what she did considered treason, and Rand had already set the punishment as death for that?

I also did find her impressive, in a way. She sure managed to pull off something pretty spectacular.

Well, the Forsaken are serial murderers but if people can talk about whether or not some of them are redeemable than Colavaere deserved a second chance by way of banishment or some such punishment for ordering some corporate killings.

  12. Colavaere didn't deserve what she got.

If we're talking about justice than Lanfear needs to either be balefired in the heat of battle or if she's captured than stilled and executed for all that murder she did. Or given the harshest punishment TV can give mass murderers anyway.

Rand's problem is one of equality if you look at it one way. He can't kill any women because every woman is LTT's wife as he sees it in his (soul, spirit? one of those).

I hope a certain someone can help him with that later on so he can recover.

I don't hate Rand, and least not now while he has time to get better. Well, I hate him a little. :ddd:
