The thing I don't get is how they referred to Thom as being "in his prime" when he was with Morgas....but that was only 15 years ago. And if he is in his 70's, then 55 at the least isn't "prime", no matter how athletic he is.

Well as a former pagan...It's the upright pentagram that was the sign of protection and was used by early Christians as well. Flipping it is wrong, and thus it is...well, evil to some. By putting it upside down you are saying that the material world is above the spiritual (the topmost point represents spirit).

I donno, how old you can be and still flipp around? It seems a 78 year old would break every bone in his body if he tried that. Also, if he was 78, he'd probably be a retired gleeman.

No, he's more than that at least. He was twice Morgase's age 20 years ago, and she's about the same age as Moiraine. So he would be at least in his 60s.
